History of formation

The present confectionery flagship was created by the peasant in 1804. A small enterprise produced sweets based on fruits, for which the founder Stepan received the surname of Apricots. The workshop produced delicious candied fruit, pastille and marmalade. A small company gradually expanded, the case was transferred to the next generation of the family. The technical and qualitative breakthrough was made by Aleksey Abrikosov (grandson of Stepan) who took over the management and ownership of the enterprise in 1850. With its advent, the production receives the first machines: machines for pressing and drying up almonds and grinding almonds.

The first milestones of development

The competitive environment did not allow anyone to relax, and therefore required further modernization, which was carried out by installing a steam engine. The turnover of the enterprise, the number of employees, the quality of products and the overall scope of the enterprise transferred it to the status of a factory and made it one of the industry leaders. Tasty products of the factory "Association AI Abrikosov and sons" were known throughout Russia and abroad, and since 1899 the enterprise has become a supplier of the imperial court.

In 1900 the factory underwent another reconstruction, before 1917 the factory of Abrikosovs had representative offices all over the world. The revolutionary government nationalized the enterprise and gave it a new name - the State Confectionery Factory No. 2.

The Soviet period

Since 1922 the confectionary factory has been renamed into the confectionery factory named after PA Babaev in honor of the head of the district executive committee Sokolnikov. Slightly battered by revolutionary storms, the reconstructed and once again reconstructed combine continued its life with a new name. In these years, the factory produces Montpantier, several types of caramel, toffee.

During the Great Patriotic War, it was necessary to rebuild production for other needs, but even during this period sweets were produced: sweets for the front with alcohol and water with saccharin. A workshop for the production of concentrates was also installed. Victory in the war brought to the "Babaevskaya" factory the first automated line for the production of chocolate.

From that moment the victorious procession of delicious chocolate began. The first automated line made it possible to produce chocolate products and determined the further development of the company. Economic recovery and meeting the needs of the population grew, and therefore the production required further efforts to introduce new technologies and devices. In 1950, the factory processed 2000 tons of cocoa beans annually, and in the 1960s the processing figure reached 9,000 tons.

At the turn of the 60s and 70s, a qualitative and quantitative modernization of the chocolate industry was carried out, and in 1972 the country's best shop for the production of chocolate products was commissioned.

Difficult 90s

Another difficult period the factory experienced in the perestroika times of the collapse of the USSR. The general centralized system of supply of state enterprises collapsed, the former union republics broke off ties and contracts. The Babaev factory, like many enterprises in the country, was in a state of half-life. As a result, the assortment narrowed, the volume of production fell significantly.

The situation was corrected after the company was transformed into an open joint-stock company: Babayevsky. The restoration period took a long time, but it was very successful, and in 1997 Babaevsky won the victory as the best Russian enterprise in the nomination "For the highest efficiency of all types of resources". In the future, the enterprise was strengthened in the domestic market, developed, releasing new product names, and gradually began to enter foreign markets. Since 1998 the enterprise has received the status of concern.

Our days

Two thousand years are marked in Russia by the creation of associations. So, in 2003, the Babaevsky Confectionery Concern entered the United Confectioners Holding.
