Masterpieces of Russian painting: Levitan, "Golden Autumn". Description of the picture

As Pushkin in literature was a recognized singer of the Russian autumn, so Isaak Levitan did not tire of painting this amazing season. Hundreds of paintings, large and small, depicted the most diverse corners of the native artist of the earth, forever saving for the eyes of descendants wonderful landscapes. Autumn appears in them so peculiar and so recognizable! The bright holiday of Indian summer, the rainy blues of the first bad weather and the mournful slush on the eve of winter are all expensive and close to the virtuoso of the brush and paints, in all weathers he finds his joy and charm, "charming eyes".

History of creation of the work

So, Levitan, "Golden Autumn". Description of the picture can begin with a small biographical note. The work was created by the artist in 1895, at the very end of the 19th century, a time of confusion for the Russian intelligentsia, which is not very clear. At the same time it is the flowering of creativity, its mastery, a productive surge of talent. On a very small canvas (82 by 126 cm) painted a surprisingly bright, cheerful landscape. Looking at him, it becomes absolutely clear why Levitan named his work "Golden Autumn". The description of the picture of autumn is made in the most intense, major tones. But they are very rare with the artist, they are not native to him. The master was an adherent of calmer, pastel shades, paints of moderate saturation, soft and tender. But, apparently, the painter was very touched and admired by the splendor of nature, that he retreated from his usual manner of writing. And not mistaken Levitan! "Golden Autumn" - a description of the nature's picture, more precisely its image in the vicinity of the river Szieha, which flows near the village of Ostrovno. In those places the artist lived in the estate with an interesting name Gorka (formerly Tver province, now - the region). It happened in 1895, under the impression of staying in such beautiful places, he took up his job.

Analysis of the picture

The first painting, which is remembered at the name of Levitan, is "Golden Autumn". The description of the picture should be started from the foreground. On it we see a birch grove stretching along both banks of a narrow but deep river. Its banks are precipitous and high, with grass and shrubs. The reddish-brown earth peers through them, is seen among the withered grass and half-naked branches with yellow and reddish leaves. Above the slope are themselves white-bearded beauties, golden, sparkling in the bright rays of the sun, which is not hot yet. It seems that gold - yellow and red - is poured in the air itself.

After a few blazing scarlet aspen add saturation to the overall color. By the way, it's worth emphasizing how attentive Levitan is. "Golden Autumn" is a description of a non-monotonous landscape! In the yellowness, as the most frequently encountered paint, he notices and reflects so many shades that you are amazed! However, on other colors, too, draws attention. Greenish-gray, as if faded, washed by autumn rains there are trees on the right bank of the river. In the background, in the distance, you can see the village, peasant huts. Further, the fields extend, and along the horizon line there is a lemon-ocher forest.

Mood pictures

Celebration of life, delight in the fragile, short-lived charm of nature - that's what Levitan's Golden Autumn broadcasts. The composition on it is written with pleasure by schoolchildren at the lessons of speech development. After all, true beauty attracts, ennobles, touches, educates and teaches careful treatment. The beautiful is always defenseless. This is worth remembering for everyone.

No wonder it is said that it is beauty that will save our world from lack of spirituality!
