History

In 1875, Shakhmatovo was acquired by the famous Russian botanist, rector of the University of St. Petersburg, and AN Beketov, the grandfather of the future poet. He created here a family nest, laid traditions and way of life.

Alexander Blok's grandfather brought to the estate at six months old. All his life Alexander Alexandrovich came to the estate in the summer. Here he learned the world, wrote his best poems, was sad and had fun, he reflected. Here he met his love - Lyubov Dmitrievna, daughter of a neighbor D. I. Mendeleyev, who lived in Boblovo. Revival of the manor

The Blok Museum-Estate in Shakhmatovo began to be established in 1984 at the same place where the estate was located. However, exact information about his whereabouts have not been preserved. Main manor house

The interior of the house was recreated according to the memoirs of MA Beketova - a poet's aunt. In her memoirs, she described in detail how the rooms of the house looked like, what furniture they were in, even such details as wallpaper on walls and small decor elements are described. This information was invaluable to those who restored the estate.

The exposition presents both original items belonging to the poet's family, which the Blok's relatives kindly provided to the museum, as well as typological objects. Having crossed the threshold of this house, visitors are immersed in the atmosphere of the everyday life of the estate of Russian noblemen of the XIX-XX centuries.

The room of Ye. G. Beketova

A well-known interpreter, the daughter of the famous Russian traveler and researcher GS Karelina - Ye. G. Beketov - was the grandmother of Alexander Blok. Her room is on the first floor of the museum. The situation in it is very modest - a polished elegant table by the window, a chair with armrests of mahogany, a large and comfortable chair.

Blue Living Room

As many visitors note, it is surprising how modest, and sometimes even ascetic, decoration of Shakhmatovo. Blok Manor (photo and video shooting inside the house is forbidden for some reason), has one very interesting room, which the poet mentions in his poem "Retribution". This is the Blue Living Room. Its walls are covered with blue wallpaper, which bear lighter blue lilies.

Here every evening all the inhabitants of the estate gathered, played charades, read aloud, listened to music, met numerous relatives and friends. The decoration of this room is the old black piano, which Marietta Shaganyan presented to the museum. Once upon a time, this instrument was played by the great Sergei Rakhmaninov.

White dining room

This room is also decorated rather laconically - white ceiling and walls, a table covered with a white tablecloth, and a clock with weights on the wall. From the dining room there is an exit to the park.

A. Block's office

Blok's Manor Shakhmatovo recreates the situation in the cabinet in which the poet worked. It is located on the second floor. Here is an old desk, which the poet inherited from his father. He has his secrets - secret boxes, where Blok kept his wife's letters, some manuscripts. Today, visitors can see the authentic bamboo shelf, wicker chair and bookcase, which were brought from the poet's apartment in St. Petersburg. In addition, there is a road box and a bench. The room is spacious, it has a lot of light thanks to the large windows, which offer a magnificent view of the surrounding area.

Outbuilding

At the entrance to the courtyard from the side of the station there is an outbuilding. Today it hosts a permanent exhibition "Beyond the Past of Days ...", which tells about the history of the acquisition of Shakhmatov, the famous people who visited the estate. The estate came to visit, and lived in the wing of the great-grandmother of the poet A. N. Karelin. In 1904 Blok and his young wife began to live there.

A park

"Shakhmatovo" (Manor Blok), is surrounded by a small but very picturesque park. Today, it retains rare plants that Blok and his family planted. Especially it is beautiful in the summer, when the manor is simply buried in flowers.

The village of Tarakanovo

Continue to get acquainted with the museum's exhibits in the village of Tarakanovo, which is located three kilometers from the Shakhmatovo estate. In the surviving building of the former zemstvo school, which survived from the Bloc times, an exposition dedicated to the creativity and life of the poet was created. Here are copies of his drawings, the reproduction of his manuscripts and numerous photographs of Blok and Beketov. Here you can see portraits of friends and the very first editions of poetry, Alexander Blok's favorite books. Perhaps you will be interested to see a metric book from the church of Michael the Archangel. In it, in 1902, the funeral of the poet's grandfather A. N. Beketov was sung. Here Alexander Alexandrovich was also married.

In the village of Tarakanovo, in addition to the zemstvo school, there are two other buildings - the teacher's house and the ruins of the church of Archangel Michael.

Shakhmatovo, Blok Manor - how to get there

If you are driving by car from the capital, then in Solnechnogorsk you should turn right, to the village of Tarakanovo. At the next fork, after a few hundred meters, again turn right. There are no signs. Pass to the T-shaped intersection, there you will see "On Shakhmatovo." To the goal you will only five hundred meters.

From the railway station "Podsolnechnaya" you can take the bus number 24 to the stop "Village Tarakanovo", and then walk about 2.5 km.
