M-11: Highway Moscow - St. Petersburg. Scheme and description

The appearance in Russia of roads that are not inferior to world standards, leads the country to a new level. The notorious quality of the road surface or the complete lack of it on the roads of the country became an occasion for jokes and anecdotes not only among Russians, but also the peoples of other countries.

The construction of the M-11 Moscow -St. Petersburg highway will change the general opinion about Russian roads. In addition to prestige, it will enable drivers to travel from one capital to another with maximum comfort and speed.

Importance of the M-11 route

Expressway M-11 will be the first highway meeting all the criteria of quality and safety of roads of European level. It will also unload the Leningrad highway as much as possible, even though 60% of its length will be paid.

Starting from Moscow immediately, the M-11 (track) will be laid out according to the following scheme:

  • According to the Moscow region the route will take 90 km.
  • In the Tver region will be laid 253 km of the road.
  • In the Novgorod region the route will take 233 km.
  • Leningrad region will be 75 km.

The total length of the highway will be 651 km. The maximum permissible speed, when M-11 (track) will be completed and put into operation (2018), will be 150 km / h. During testing of open sections of the road, travel will be free of charge, and after they pass the test, the final tariff of each segment of the route will be known.

The first part of the road

The first section of the route from Moscow to St. Petersburg was put into operation from 15 to 58 km. He goes around the Leningrad highway past Sheremetyevo airport. Putting the segment into test operation took place at the end of 2014, and until July M-11 (track) was tested, which means it was free.

In the future it is planned to charge Sheremetyevo for 100 rubles, and the next segment of the journey will cost almost 300 rubles. Gradual introduction of automatic payment of travel should accustom drivers, first, to pay, and secondly, seriously to concern such innovations. There are still no toll roads in Russia, so the local population will have to get used to the idea that a fast, safe and comfortable ride is not free.

Route M-11, the scheme of which is built parallel to the existing M-10 highway, provides for several common junctions of these roads, as well as the introduction of new facilities all along the way.

Opening of the highway in the Tver region

Another site, commissioned and for testing, is located in the Tver region (258-334 km) bypass Vyshniy Volochok.

This part of the route captures just 3 districts of the Tver region - Torzhok, Spirovo and Vyshny Volochek. The construction of the M-11 highway will lead to a traffic flow outside the city streets, which will significantly speed up travel and secure travel around the city.

This section of the route was delivered ahead of schedule by almost 7 months, but this did not affect the quality of the construction. To improve it, the road construction company used exceptionally high-quality materials, as there are marshy places outside the city of Vyshny Volochok. To fix the highway, piles were used, and asphalt concrete with special polymer additives was used for the coating.

Artificial objects on the M-11 track

The new M-11 route from Moscow to St. Petersburg provides not only a large number of lanes and high-quality road surface, but also necessary for safe way artificial objects. So, they include overpasses, special congresses, overpasses and even animal tracks in those places where the migration of animals takes place. "Tunnels" for large and small animals pass under the ground, and special cleaning facilities will regulate the drains of storm and thawed waters.

M-11 - a route that will eventually "overgrow" cafes, payment points, refueling and will be an incentive for economic growth in small towns, by which the highway will pass.

Payment of travel

For the first time in Russia, construction of a highway with automatic write-off of money for travel is provided. The money is written off by the transponder associated with the accounting system. Payment depends not only on the class of the vehicle, but also on the number of trips.

The transponder must be attached to the windshield, and all the necessary "work" will be performed automatically. It can either be purchased or rented. To connect it you need to register on the site and activate the device in the "Personal Account" according to the assigned individual number. A bank account is attached to it, which can be replenished through quick payment terminals.

This system allows you to travel along the road without stopping at payment points, which saves drivers time.

Rates

The final tariffs for the sites already commissioned are not yet available, but their approximate cost since July 2015 is:

  • From Moscow to Sheremetyevo - 100 rubles.
  • From Moscow to Solnechnogorsk - 300 rubles.
  • From the capital to Zelenograd - 175 rubles.

These tariffs are for cars. The price affects the time of day and day of the week. A special system of discounts for frequent users of the route should attract a large flow of cars.

  • 20 trips are provided for 20 trips;
  • If the trips are from 21 to 30, then the savings will be 50%;
  • From 31 to 44 trips will save 60% of the money;
  • From 45 to 50 - 70% discount.

The estimated cost of travel throughout the entire distance without discounts will be equal to 1500 rubles, although by the end of construction in 2018 prices can significantly change.

Accident on the new route

Although the M-11 Moscow-Petersburg route has not been completely put into operation, its open areas allow them to move around with great speed.

Unfortunately, on the new highway there was an accident that brought the first victims. This happened in August 2015 near Zelenograd. In the collision of a car with freight transport, two people died on the spot, one was seriously injured, with whom he was taken to the hospital.

The accident on the highway M-11 caused great resonance among motorists. The main topic of discussion was the maximum speed, which is allowed on this high-speed highway, and which is often exceeded by "hackers". To date, indicated the speed of 130 km / h for the left lane. For trucks, their lanes are provided, and if each driver will responsibly treat the rules and comply with them, the victims on the new high-speed track will no longer be.

These violations put all drivers at risk, so there are cameras for monitoring violators on the route. They will record speeding and automatically write off fines from the drivers' accounts, which, naturally, will cause them discontent, but will teach them to follow the rules of the road.

Stages of construction

The construction of the M-11 highway is carried out by Avtodor, which has all permits for this purpose. The management of the company had to take the problems of ecology very seriously when drawing up a new highway scheme. Part of the way passes through the forest, so the most gentle plan was chosen, which provides for minimal cutting down of trees.

Verification of the company's full compliance with the environment was checked by representatives of the Green Party. We should pay tribute to the leadership of "Avtodor": at the first complaints the work was suspended to identify violations and correct mistakes. The works also provide for the planting of trees for the greening of the route.

The number of travel lanes along the way varies from 10 on departure from Moscow and 8, 6 and 4 as you move away from the capital.

For ease of construction, the entire section of the highway was divided into parts:

  • The first was a "piece" of the road from 15 to 58 km;
  • Construction from 58 to 149 km is still to be completed;
  • From 208 to 258 km construction is carried out by Mostotrest, which is to hand over its track in 2018;
  • 258-334 km of track are already functioning;
  • From 334 to 543 km there is intensive work;
  • 543-684km - the final segment, will also be delivered in 2018 ode.

Gradual commissioning of both the route and paid travel through it will accustom Russian drivers to European road standards.
