LOL - what does this mean?
From the set of Internet expressions I would single out the English abbreviation LOL (among users in the Cyrillic alphabet just "lol"), since it has more than one canonical decoding.
Self-sufficient part of speech in different contexts
LOL is today a well-established self-sufficient part of speech. It is actively used by almost all Internet users, depending on the situation in a certain context. If you receive a message with an intriguing LOL content, what does this mean, it's worth pondering, since it can be a simple laugh from what was said during communication. But also this abbreviation can mean the relation to the author. This is either respect and approval, or a veiled insult. In some chats and forums this abbreviation is used as an allowed insult towards the interlocutor and has the meaning of "loser", "an ignorant person in one or another issue". It is a pity that while the Internet does not have the ability to convey the intonation of the interlocutor. In all kinds of chat rooms, forums, the abbreviation "lol" is replaced by a smiley rolling on the floor from an uncontrollable fit of laughter.
We live in the era of getting rid of the idol of spelling
How many disputes on the topic that the Russian language is already time to defend against "virtual verbal trash." After all, having the opportunity to read and write in our native language, in return we use a whole series of international abbreviations and symbols. All the slang Internet words really help to save time, because most users think much faster than typing text, so we try to do it faster. We save not only actively using abbreviations, but also on punctuation marks - illiteracy is now in the trend. Why not write something like this: "The author (interlocutor), your statement amused me!". Maybe, therefore, before lamenting, looking at the text of the received message: "Here again LOL, what does this mean?", You need to pay attention to what posts you place? After all, the highest valor for any abbreviation is not to be more than a word, but to be a full-fledged word.
