Life expectancy in Belarus differs little from similar indicators recorded in the territory of neighboring countries

Improving the quality of life of citizens is one of the tasks that the politicians of the Republic of Belarus call primary. Although the most important indicator of quality - life expectancy in Belarus - is not yet quite satisfactory: in 2012, for example, the average life expectancy of women was 77.6, whereas men could not overcome the 66.6 year mark. The eleven-year "gap" is impressive, mainly because, according to the UNDP quotation, a difference of 5 years is recognized as a natural phenomenon.

The cause of premature mortality is not officially established

"The reason, Belstat believes, is the high premature mortality of the male half of the country." It is interesting that for urban residents the age difference between a man and a woman approaches 10.5 years, and in rural areas it is 12.6 years.

In 2012, the projected life expectancy of citizens was 68 years for men and 78.5 years for women. As for citizens living in rural areas, their lives were 62.7 years (for men) and 75.3 years (for women). According to unofficial sources of information, the real reason that affects the life expectancy of men in Belarus is the lack of timely medical care and poor quality alcohol.

Mankind has grown old?

"The people of Belarus" grew old "no more than citizens of friendly countries," the representatives of the authorities answered the journalists' question. - The average life expectancy in Belarus, as well as the number of older people, is not much different from similar indicators recorded in neighboring states. "

According to the specification adopted by the United Nations, it is possible to talk about the aging of the nation if the number of elderly people (65 and over) is 7% of the total population. Today there are one million two hundred and forty-four thousand citizens on the territory of Belarus, whose age exceeds the 65-year mark, that is - 13.1%.

Average life expectancy of men in Belarus is a "headache" of the pension fund

Analysts are concerned that, given the current situation, the current generation, which has already reached the age of thirty, will be forced to pass the old age without financial support from the state. Moreover, if the situation does not change within the next thirty years, there will simply be no one to replenish the pension funds. This situation is typical not only for Belarus: in a similar situation are its closest neighbors - Ukraine, Latvia and other countries.

Belarusian men are "lucky" - many of them are not destined to live to retirement age, and, consequently, they will not have to "survive" without financial support from the state. But women, in particular today's young mothers, have to learn how to educate their children so that happy old age is over for them in the walls of their homes and surrounded by loving household members.

Life expectancy in Belarus is gradually increasing

As of January 1 of this year, there were five million seventy-seven thousand women and four million four hundred and twenty-one thousand men on the territory of Belarus, one thousand one hundred and forty-nine women for every thousand men.

The estimated life expectancy in Belarus, compared with 2010, increased, and by 2015 was 73.9 years. The most densely populated Belarusian city is Minsk - there are one million nine hundred and sixty thousand citizens, the percentage of which is 20.6% of the total number of inhabitants of the country. Three quarters of the population are citizens.

Approximately 70% of urban residents live in large cities. These, except the capital, are several settlements. We are talking about Baranovichi, Bobruisk, Borisov, Lida, Mozyr, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Pinsk, Soligorsk and their regional centers. The Vitebsk region is considered to be the oldest region of Belarus: the average age of the inhabitants of this locality is a little "below the age of 42". The youngest district is the city of Minsk and its environs. The average age of local residents is just under 40 years.

Life expectancy in Belarus, perhaps, depends not only on the standard of living of the population of the republic, but also on the ecological situation: the purity of water bodies, air and other factors.
