Letov Igor is a musician, an author-performer. Biography, creativity. Civil Defense Group

Letov Igor Fedorovich is a well-known Russian poet, sound producer, great musician, and this is only a small part of his achievements. Throughout his life he managed to attract the attention of a huge number of people. His ideas and powerful talent have always amazed and fascinated fans.

The legendary musician

September 10, 1964 in the city of Omsk was born the Russian singer of rock music, the poet and leader of all the beloved group "Civil Defense" - Igor Fyodorovich Letov. In the process of creative life, he took himself a stage name, so modern rock lovers know him under the name of Yegor Letov.

The creative success of the musician did not stop the constant problems with his studies. The deduction from the Omsk vocational school led him to some difficulties and forced him to carry out hard work in order to have money. But he could not give up, so the next step in Igor's life was the beginning of his creative career and the appearance of Yegor Letov.

And even in our time, when an occasional passer-by is asked to be called the greatest Russian poet and musician, he will no doubt answer that it's Letov Yegor. The group called "Civil Defense," the founder and leader of which he was, gave the audience positive emotions at the concerts, each time showing something new and unusual.

Collectives

Over the years of creative activity (1982-2008), the musician has worked in various genres, among which there are punk, garage rock, psychedelic rock and many others. In addition, Yegor was part of the collectives that raised a huge audience. The modern young generation is pleased to listen to the creations of Soviet collectives: "Civil Defense", "Egor and Opizdenevshie", "Adolf Hitler", "Anarchy", etc.

Such a style as pop mechanics was also included in the list of directions of his musical groups. Therefore, listening to the songs of the above collectives, you can find such music.

Harsh 1980s

Musical activity started from the early 1980s. In his hometown Yegor Letov together with his constant companion created a rock band, taking the name from the popular magazine "Sowing" (1982). And in two years there was "Civil Defense" (group). It became more famous and brought good money to its participants. To designate often used abbreviations - "GrOb" (the same author also called his own home studio) and "GO".

Creativity Letov was successful, but to achieve this was not so easy. At the very dawn of the business, I was confronted with problems related to politics and the desire to be independent, because of what he had to record songs in not very comfortable apartment conditions. But soon this practice has already become established, and each of the albums "GO" was recorded in the home studio ("GrOb-studio").

After a while the group achieved success already outside Siberia. In the winter of 1985, the "Civil Defense" was attacked by various political repressions, after which the creator of the group was sent for compulsory treatment to a psychiatric hospital. For the time spent there, not to go crazy for real, Letov began to create, and after being discharged, within 2 years, the popular albums of the group were recorded.

By the end of the 80s, musicians from the "GrOb-studio" won the popularity of listeners throughout the Soviet Union. Basically, their fans were young rockers, although a little older generation also liked to imbue in their creations.

Difficulties and success in the 90s

After a good success, "Civil Defense" (the group) stopped the concert activity. The announcement of the dissolution of the team was followed by the news about the creation of a new psychedelic project called "Egor and Opiznedevshie." At the same time, the popular albums "Jump-Skok" (in 1990) and "One Hundred Years of Solitude" (in 1992) were recorded now.

A year later, the musician decided to reassemble the collective of "GO" with the purpose of reviving the concert and studio activities. Very soon there will be a national-communist rock movement, whose leader is Letov Igor Fedorovich. At the same time, he manages to engage in both rock movement and active tours.

By the end of the 1990s, the leader of the group supported the National Bolshevik Party, in which he had an important party ticket under number 4. And in 1999 he went on a huge tour to support Viktor Anpilov, a candidate for the State Duma elections.

Everyone knows that it was the 90s that were not easy for ordinary people. But this did not become an obstacle to the release of new successful albums:

  1. "Sunshine".
  2. "The Unbearable Lightness of Being".

The project "Egor and Opizdenevshie"

As it was already said above, in the spring of 1990 "GO" dismissed Letov Yegor. The group broke up not at all because there were contradictions between its participants, or because of unsuccessfulness, as it happens in modern collectives. In fact, Yegor did not want to do pop music anymore, so he left his last concert in Tallinn and returned home. After a while, active creative work began, as a result of which the fans were presented with a new material, called "Egor and Opiznedevshie."

During the creation of the first album, the musician traveled the Urals, collecting and processing more and more information for new creations. But even there everything went smoothly. In one of the trips Egor, along with positive emotions, received a bite of encephalitis mite. About a month, he literally stood between life and death, balancing on the very edge. For all this time he had to endure the lack of sleep and a constant temperature of 40 degrees. But in the end, the disease still left him, and the usual regime of active creative activity was again launched.

Early 21st century

In 2002, an album entitled "Starfall" was released, which included the most famous songs of "GO". A "Egor and Opizdenevshie" presented the album "Psychedelia Tomorrow". A couple of years Letov unsubscribed from all political forces, where previously played a large role.

During the first years of the 21st century, Igor released several albums that were instantly popular. The collective survived the resistance of the Estonian authorities, which consisted in refusing to obtain a visa without explaining the reasons. And the most recent concert was held on February 9, 2008 - he was in Yekaterinburg and was filmed by a local television company.

Personal life

In the late 80's, Letov Igor was madly in love with Yanka Diaghilev, but in the early 90's he lived with her friend Anna Volkova. In 1997, Yegor met his future wife and part-time bass player of the "Civil Defense" Natalia Chumakova.

Death

The musician died at the age of 43 in his native city. On February 19, 2008, fans lost their favorite artist, who remained forever in their hearts.

Igor Fyodorovich Letov was buried in the city's Old East Cemetery, where his mother's graves and grandmother's graves are located next to his grave. Farewell ceremony was attended by thousands of people from different cities of Russia and other countries.

Causes of death

The first cause of death was cardiac arrest. But after a while the doctors put forward another version - acute respiratory failure. Doctors say that this was due to alcohol poisoning. The musician's wife and "GO" group denied this fact, therefore the official reason is considered cardiac arrest.

Memory

After the death in several cities of the Russian Federation there were exhibitions of art collages that were executed personally by Yegor, as well as Oleg Sudakov and Konstantin Ryabinov.

A year later the fans began to publish the three-volume "Autographs: Black and White Manuscripts." The volumes were issued quite a long time: the first - in 2009, the second - in 2011, and the last - only in the fall of 2014.

In 2010 (September 10), at the grave, at the request of Egor's wife, a monument was erected in the form of a marble cube, depicting the Jerusalem cross (which Igor wore as a cross during his lifetime). Many people took part in creating the monument-gravestone.

Annually in the days of birth and death, concerts of memory are held in honor of the bright representative of Russian rock. His rock, pop mechanics and other musical directions will always be in people's memory. The great man was able to convey to the listeners their feelings, which can not be forgotten.

Books

In addition to his passion for music, Letov Igor also wrote. In this his talent also knew no bounds. During the life of the publishing house released several collections of poems, which to this day change people's views on life and talk about little-known things:

  • "I do not believe in anarchy";
  • "Poems";
  • "The Russian field of experiments" (in the creation took part Jan Dyagilev and Konstantin Ryabinov);
  • "Autographs."

Egor slightly loved to make changes to the created songs or books. But after his death, a book called "Poems" was reissued together with three volumes of "Autographs."

The musician's books were valued at the same level as the songs. Therefore, the number of fans increased not only due to the performances of musical groups under his leadership. Unfortunately, now very few people have at least one book by Letov, but at the time of their publication, success was at the highest level.
