A complex sentence is a complex of syntactically connected predicative units whose task is to act as a communicative whole. Simply put, a complex sentence is a construction with two or more grammatical bases. In fact, these are a few simple sentences connected in one more complex unit.

The concept of "a complex sentence and its types" causes some disagreement among philologists. AA Shakhmatova and her supporters believe that simple proposals included in the BSC do not lose their significance, both semantic and structural. Adherents of this theory deny the compound sentence (SSP) as an independent syntactic unit.

The philologists of the school, V.V. Vinogradova, on the contrary, assert that they completely lose their simple independence within the framework of the SSP. This point of view is more popular, it was she who formed the basis for teaching Russian at school.

Types of complex sentences in the Russian language differ from each other by types of communication, which unites simple sentences as part of a complex one.

Parts of the SSP are usually of equal value, always associated with writing unions. ( It was warm days, but it was still cool in the evenings.) He did not like gay companies, and they did not pay him either. ).

In turn, the type of unions SCP are divided into subgroups. Parts can be connected by connecting unions (accordingly, they will express the connecting relationship). Usually the actions that are indicated in each of the parts occur simultaneously. ( She was very frightened and her eyes filled with tears, not only my friend left yesterday, but his sister also did not want to stay. ).

SCR with opposing unions signify actions that take place contrary to something or opposing. ( Nikolai was singing badly, but in the choir he was suffering.) It was raining for a week, but this morning the sun came out.) Talk to parents, or they are going through it. ).

SSPs with separative unions divide actions, the simultaneous occurrence of which is impossible. ( The sun burns the ground almost to the ground, then the rains are flooded, or the thunder rumbles in the distance, or the sounds of a festive salute are heard. ).

Such kinds of complex sentences are used in speech most often, because they are relatively easy to construct.

The second group of complex sentences is compound subordinate (SPP). Their common meaning is defined already in the title: one part of such a design is subordinate to the other. These kinds of complex sentences are also divided according to the meanings that alliances express. The type of CSE is determined by the subordinate clause, and they can be:

Types of complex sentences are not limited to SSP and NGN. There are alliance proposals (BSP). As follows from the definition, their parts are not connected by unions, but by intonation. BSP can have the meaning of explanations, cause and effect, express consistency. ( We wake up at dawn, the younger ones get up later.) We were afraid: the sound was too loud.
