Large and small rivers of Ukraine

Ukraine is rich in rivers, therefore, when studying them, one can learn a lot about this country. It is necessary to list them in order, from the longest to the more modest, in order to systematically deal with this interesting information.

Dnieper

The largest river of Ukraine, sung in literary works and songs, is this one. It flows through the lands of neighboring Belarus and Russia, but here it occupies the maximum territory and the most important thing is its significance. The great river in Ukraine, the Dnieper, is more than a thousand kilometers long. He takes the beginning on the Valdai Upland, and ends at the estuary of the Black Sea. The river has about fifteen thousand tributaries. The current is located along the plains, for the most part it is fast enough, but in places you can also find rivets. Depth is very different: there are sections in a half meter, and there are pits reaching up to thirty meters. The pool is sandy, clayey, pebbly, sometimes rocky. As the longest river in Ukraine, the Dnieper is extremely rich in fish. There are in its waters loaches, carp, carp, bream, burbot, perch, minnows, roach, pike perch, pike, catfish and many other aquatic inhabitants. Previously, the river was known by other names. Herodotus wrote about Borisfen. The Romans called it Danapris. During Kievan Rus in the course was the name of Slavutich. Already in the Middle Ages the largest river in Ukraine acquired its modern name.

Southern Bug

Listing the major rivers of Ukraine, it is worth mentioning this. The uniqueness of the Southern Bug is that it is completely located in the territory of one state, and this applies to the tributaries. In the basin are the energy complexes of the South-Ukrainian NPP and Ladyzhinskaya GRES, the construction of the Tashlykskaya GS and the Alexandria hydroelectric complex is planned. Opponents of such a decision say that the functioning of such facilities involves the consumption of water, which is already not too much in the Bug. Perhaps the building will be canceled. Many cities are located along the banks of this river of Ukraine. Their names include such famous centers as Nikolaev, Vinnitsa, Khmelnitsky and Pervomaisk. The river originates from a swamp near the village of Kholodets, located on Khmelnytsky. The river runs eight hundred kilometers into the Bug estuary on the Black Sea.

Dniester

Studying the rivers of Ukraine, you can not leave this without attention. The length of the Dniester is one thousand three hundred fifty two kilometers. The river flows through the territories of Ukraine and Moldova. The area of the basin occupies seventy-two thousand one hundred square kilometers. The source is located in the Turkovsky district of the Lviv region, near the village Sereda. The river has a lot of tributaries - Vereshchitsa, Tismenitsa, Bystrica, Boberka, Rotten Face, String and many others. Here you can catch trout, chub, barbel, white-eyed, pike, roach, crucian, tench, bream, carp, ruff, nosar. Rarely come across species such as catfish, pike perch, sterlet. Downstream the ratio of different fish can vary, and the ones common above can practically disappear from the waters.

From February to April, there is a flood. The bottom is sandy, with strong changes in depth. In places it is thirty centimeters, and somewhere - ten meters. It traces the channels and old people, making the current even calmer. The bottom of the sand, sometimes muddy, there are many pits in it, where many fish can be watered. In December, the Psil is covered with ice, which only comes to the end of March.
