Landscaping: laying paving slabs on a concrete foundation

When developing the project site near the country house should be taken into account all the details in order to exclude unnecessary waste and preserve the integrity and attractiveness of landscape design. This applies to any thing: plants, buildings and elements of communication. Do not make exceptions and paths. Their number, necessary functional parameters, shape and size should be justified by a number of factors: the total area of the site, the terrain of the territory, the need for connecting different zones, the frequency and the weight load on the surface. For example, laying paving slabs on a concrete base is provided for parking cars and places with heavy equipment (boilers, pumps), and the decorative path will look better to the central entrance to the house and adjacent territories. Deeper into the territory and to the utility rooms, you can use cheaper material, which provides only convenience in operation, but does not bear any aesthetic effect.

The reliability of the garden path, the durability and compositional attractiveness of your infield depend on how well and structurally the paving slab is laid on a concrete base, without a foundation, with loose or hard coating. The "bust" in the paths, like their lack, equally affect the comfort of the conditions in the arrangement of your garden.

Before deciding how to put the paving slab, you must determine the degree of operational load on the track. If it provides for the movement of vehicles or any other heavy equipment, it must be made on a basis that can be sandy, gravelly or concrete. The required thickness of the substrate, in turn, depends on the nature of the soil. With a normal structure of the earth and medium loads, its sufficient height will be 8-10 cm. If the plot is clayey or solonchak, it should be 20-25 cm thick. When the paving slab is laid on a concrete base or any other, the level of the slope of the track itself For drainage of water.

The technology of base execution consists of the following stages:

  1. The first step of the foundation is excavation (depth not less than 20 cm) and creating a so-called "mirror" under the path. The surface of the bottom must be carefully sealed.
  2. It is laid large slag or crushed stone for a thickness of 10 cm, on top - a layer of the same material, but smaller - 5 cm. Materials should be laid in a wet condition. They perform the roles of the foundation and the drainage system at the same time.
  3. A bonding material is applied to the compacted substrate. It can be cement or clay soil. The layer is 1-2 cm thick. It serves to fix the previous ones and must be waterproof.
  4. On the prepared base, the flooring of the cover material should be laid. It can be loose - pebbles, gravel, clay crocks, sand; Solid - natural or artificial stone, finished slabs. In our time, the variety of places where to buy paving slabs, a wide range of the offered goods will allow you to choose the most suitable for both aesthetic qualities and performance characteristics. It should be remembered that concrete and asphalt types of coating on a hot day are very hot, so walking on them inside the garden can hardly be called pleasant.

Beautifully made tracks will serve you for a long time and will be an additional element in decorating the landscape design of your site. Combine them by colors, elements, covers, take into account the operational parameters and they will serve you long. Try, in fact, laying paving slabs on a concrete foundation is not as complicated as it seems at first glance.
