He began his career as an actor in a relatively mature age, but this did not stop him from becoming famous not only in his homeland, but throughout the world.

early years

In the distant 1934 in Liverpool in the world history was launched an amazing and fascinating biography. Tom Baker grew up in the family of seafarer John Stuart Baker and a strict Catholic, who worked in the buffet, Mary Jane Baker. The father rarely appeared at home, so the mother was mainly involved in the upbringing of children, of course, with a great deal of religiousness. Perhaps that's why at the age of 15 the boy decided to leave school and take monastic vows, which caused sincere approval of the family. At the height of the war, Tom Baker went to receive training in the monastery, but six years later he changed the decision about his future because he did not find enough strength for such ascetic life. Therefore, in 1955, he became an employee of the Royal Army Medical Corps, where he remained until 1957. It was there that he first became involved in acting, playing in local amateur productions.

Carier start

After leaving the national service, he begins to study dramatic art in Rose Broughford. There he makes rapid progress and very soon begins to perform on various stages throughout England. In the movie, he makes his debut in 1968 in the film "Winter's Tale", in which he plays a very small role. However, 3 years later, the whole world finds out who Tom Baker is, whose filmography replenishes the role of Rasputin in the famous film "Nikolai and Alexandra." Thanks to this in 1971, he was immediately awarded two nominations for the Golden Globe, unfortunately, did not bring victories, but still his figure now becomes public.

Selected roles

Thanks to this triumph his next work in the cinema was the film "Canterbury Tales" by Pier Paolo Pazzolini. In 1973, he starred in such films as The Crypt of Terror, Frankenstein: The True Story, and The Golden Journey of Sinbad. Before becoming a part of the longest science fiction series in history, he also appears in the film "The Creator of the Freaks" in 1974. In the same year he was elected to the role of the Fourth Doctor, in the image of which he stayed for seven years. After that, Tom Baker also continued to act in film and work in parallel at the theater, but his further projects did not bring such wide popularity. Among them can be identified such as "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "Dungeons of Dragons", "Medics", "Canterbury Tales" and one of the parts of the famous saga "The Chronicles of Narnia" in 1990. In addition, the actor has a unique voice, thanks to which he took part in multiple radio shows, and also voiced characters in the cartoons "The Magic Adventure" and "The Secret Show".

His hero was distinguished by a unique style, and also by his eccentricity in almost everything. Most recognize him on a long, multi-colored scarf, which he did not take off during all seasons. Because of simplicity, awkwardness and a huge smile, opponents often underestimated him, but at the right moment he demonstrated undeniable dexterity and exorbitant force. None of the previous and subsequent actors have played the Doctor for as long as Tom, for seven whole years.
