Kostenko Lina Vasilievna is a Ukrainian poet who belongs to the so-called generation of the sixties. She had to go through many tests. She went into creative "solitude." According to its character, she could not even get along with the Ukrainian intelligentsia, whose main values were always upheld. early years

Kostenko Lina Vasilievna was born on March 19, 1930, in the town of Rzhyshchiv, not far from Kiev, in a family of teachers. Six years after her birth, the family moved to the Ukrainian capital. She lived on Trukhanov Island, which in those years was called the "Kiev Venice". During the Nazi occupation, he was burned along with the village. Graduated two universities - the Kiev Pedagogical and Moscow Literary Institute - and in 1956 entered into adulthood. "Sixty"

At first, the poet's poems were favorably criticized. But, beginning in 1961, she was accused of being "unpolitical" and practically did not publish, and her writings were increasingly criticized by the then authorities. Lina Kostenko's poems began to be published in other countries - in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and also were popular in samizdat. When in 1965 they began to arrest dissidents among the Ukrainian intelligentsia, she openly defended the persecuted in her characteristic outrageous manner. She wrote letters in defense of political prisoners, threw flowers at the time of the trial. Even then, the young people gave her a standing ovation, despite the danger of such a revealing of feelings. In her poems, even the earliest, there is a profound philosophical overtones. It easily overcomes established literary stereotypes. "What is happening now," the poetess philosophizes, "is a nightmare that dreamed of humanity. Then it will be called History. And then add to previous nightmares. From such feelings, apocalyptic motives arise in her poetry. But in the end, Lina Kostenko's work is not aimed at despair and hopelessness, but at the desire for perfection, humanity, the desire to reach the mind and dignity of fellow citizens. "And whoever would say anything to anyone, but the evil will perish and the truth will prevail!" - she is sure. At one of the press conferences, the poet expressed her long-standing dream.
