Jean Pascal is a boxer without fear

A lot of boxers with Canadian citizenship can be called even a very high judge of boxing, which they are very interested in? They take very deep doubts, because the Canadian boxing school has never been marked by high achievements in both the professional ring and the amateur one - it's not hockey for you. One of the most famous representatives of Canada in the profile was and is Jean Pascal. "Boxer with a capital letter" - so it will be said about him in Canada. But in Ukraine and Russia - countries where they regularly win something, they will not accept its achievements as something extraordinary.

Jean Pascal: biography. Childhood and the beginning of the career of "Canadian Ali"

The future boxer was born in 1982 on the islands of Haiti, in a family that bears the common French name Pascal. Father insisted that the child be named after Jean, the famous writer of the 40s-60s of the 20th century in France. Mother did not contradict the child, because the name and the truth sounded proud. When the youngest in the Pascal family was 4 years old, they moved from the islands to the mainland of North America - to Quebec, Canada. There the boy grew up, walked on the street and as a whole was no different from his peers. In 1996, his older brother won the Quebec championship in boxing, becoming the champion of the state. After this event, which was postponed in the memory of a very young Jean, he began to attend training with his brother. For a very long time, the Canadian status of the residence was "Jean Pascal - an amateur boxer." For a long time he conducted his battles at the amateur level. But to say that he did it unsuccessfully, it is impossible. After more than a hundred fights involving Pascal, it was his hand that was raised by the judge in the ring and only in 18 cases was his opponent's hand.

The beginning of a career in professional training

February 3, 2005 Jean Pascal (boxer) first came to the professional ring. Over the next three years, 25 fights were recorded with his participation. Very good result for profiling. In 24 of them he won, in 16 of which he knocked out an opponent with his blow. This boxer can be called a typical "puncher". He always tries to fight the first number and works a lot on the rival's body, which leads him to exhaustion closer to the "champion" rounds. It is with this connected so many knockouts among his victorious fights, which is very untypical for this weight class.

Jean Pascal - boxer, whose finest hour came

June 19, 2009 is a day that the Canadian himself will remember even on his deathbed. On this day he was facing an extremely difficult match for the title, in which he certainly was not a favorite. His opponent was Adrian Diaconu, a Romanian who also lived in Quebec from childhood. Before this fight, he did not lose once and was in excellent shape. Before the start of the bout in the air, there was no tension, everything was very calm, despite the fact that the fight was for the title. It was obvious only the excitement of two boxers who were obviously nervous: one was the first defense of the title, the other - the first attempt to climb the pedestal.

Fight Jean Pascal vs Adrian Diaconu

The battle began very carefully, no one wanted to risk, so intelligence data about the rival gathered both during the fight. Prior to the 5th round, absolutely nothing happened in the ring, occasionally came the blows from one boxer, then from another. Sometimes there was a slight advantage of Pascal, but it can not be called significant or colossal. Only in the 5th round did this small advantage give its return, and after the left side impact, which fell right into the jaw of the Romanian, he had to go down, which, most likely, affected the outcome of the fight. Then Jean Pascal (photo below) did not release the thread of battle from his hands and was close to ending the fight ahead of schedule. But the Romanians stood and lost only on points by unanimous decision of all the judges. On this day, the WBC belt passed to a Canadian named Jean. Pascal is a boxer who gave impetus to the development of boxing in his homeland.

End of career and conclusions

At the moment, the boxer is already 32 years old, and many will say: "It's quite normal age for a pro-boxing". Perhaps if his weight was a little more, then yes. And since the Canadian lost all his speed data, for which, among other things, he paid a price in a fight with Russian Sergei Kovalev. To say that it is time for him to finish his career, the language does not turn, but to be on top of him already, most likely, is not destined, however sad it may sound.

During his career in the ring, he conducted 33 fights, of which only 3 ended in defeat. Among his rivals could even see a name such as Bernard Hopkins. And he had to tinker with Pascal, before winning the championship belt (according to the WBC version). Already now he can proudly declare that he is the legend of the entire Canadian boxing, because from the country of hockey and bobsleigh nobody has ever managed to reach such heights in the big box that Jean Pascal managed to achieve. Now, even with the word "fight" in Canada, an associative series is immediately being built : "Pascal, Jean, boxing ..."
