Ischemic disease of the brain: a clinic and methods of treatment

Ischemic disease of the brain is one of the factors affecting life expectancy. It is necessary to have an idea of the disease, the causes of its causes, in order to protect itself from the disappointing fate of the patient of the clinic.
At the heart of ischemic disease is atherosclerosis of the brain vessels that feed this organ. Their narrowing leads to a lack of brain oxygen and other necessary substances. The cause of the disease can also become vasculitis, as a result of which processes of inflammation in the vessels occur.

Many scientists are debating on the topic, which causes atherosclerosis, and agree that the dangerous substance is cholesterol, the elevated content of which in the blood threatens the blood vessels.

In chronic form, ischemic disease of the brain eventually leads to a stroke, which results in paralysis, speech is taken away. But sometimes events develop in a different scenario. Initially, a person experiences such changes in the state as paralysis or defeat of the motor activity of the limbs, which are due to a lack of cerebral circulation. The side of the lesion is determined by the part of the brain that suffers from circulatory disorders. In addition to disorders of the motor apparatus, speech disorder is observed, patients can not control the organs of articulation. The most terrible consequence of an ailment is temporary blindness, vision can disappear completely or partially.

Ischemic disease of the brain: diagnosis

It is the facts of passing symptoms that distinguish ischemic disease from other ailments. The phenomenon of loss of ability to work of the limbs, vision can pass even before the arrival of doctors, however, they are necessarily repeated. Therefore, ischemic brain disease should be treated urgently.

More detailed diagnosis of the disease, using special equipment and methods of ultrasound duplex scanning, which allow you to monitor blood flow, sites of constriction, the speed of movement in the vessels. Additional angiographic studies make it possible to determine the possibility and area of operation of the affected cerebral vessels. Surgical intervention reduces the risk of death.

Ischemic disease of the brain: treatment

With a confirmed diagnosis, treatment should be started immediately. The main goal of the therapy is to restore the disturbed blood flow through the vessels. The traditional solution to this problem is the surgical operation. An effective method is endarterectomy. During the operation, a section is cut and the vessel is scraped out. Endovyskul operation is a safer type of treatment. When it is performed, a catheter is introduced into the damaged vessel, through which oxygen is supplied to the special mini-balloon, expanding and restoring the walls of the vessel, and also ensuring normal functioning of the blood flow.

At a high risk of obtaining negative results from surgical intervention, ischemic brain disease is treated with medications. As drugs prescribe anticoagulants, which are a means to prevent blood clotting and the formation of new blood clots. Also, ischemic cerebral infarction or stroke requires the use of antiaggregants, which are used to prevent the formation of blood clots. The simplest means is aspirin, except for it is prescribed ticlopidine and dipyridamole.

Thrombolytic therapy consists in the introduction of drugs in the occluded vessel, which dissolve the thrombus.
