The first underwater museum in Europe was opened near the Spanish island of Lanzarote

In March 2016, the first underwater museum in Europe was opened. The arrangement of such a unique facility took two years. But today everyone can go down to a depth of 15 meters to admire the works of a world-famous master.

Mysterious installations on the bottom of the bay

At the bottom of the Bay of Las Coloradas, which is off the coast of the picturesque Spanish island of Lanzarote, the underwater Museum of the Atlantic opened, which today is the only such facility in Europe.

At a depth of 12 to 15 meters, more than 300 unique underwater sculptures of the famous artist Jason de Kayres Taylor are installed.

Of course, go down and admire the works of the master can be, only wearing special equipment.

By the way, this is not Taylor's first project. The artist made the same installations for museums under water off the coast of Mexico, the Bahamas and the Antilles.

Jason's idea was to create a mystical place, a portal to another world, which would make visitors think about the fate of the ocean.

The exhibits of the eminent artist are made of environmentally friendly concrete.

Some installations depict scenes from the everyday life of a person. For example, here you can see a couple in love making an underwater selfie.

A popular composition "Rubicon" consists of 35 human figures, walking on the waves.

By the way, the sculptures themselves will become not only a tourist object. Installations will help to form part of the artificial reef and, accordingly, will be a good tool for reproduction of representatives of the local aquatic fauna.
