Inoculations to kittens to protect themselves and their pet

The most common preventive way of taking care of your pet's health is to vaccinate kittens. To keep your pet healthy, it is enough to follow several preventive instructions.

What vaccinations do kittens do? Not exposed to infection, the body is made of a special composition - whey, which is prepared from the blood of animals with the addition of special medicines that destroy the infection. Alternatively, a vaccine is used, which is made from weakened microorganisms that cause the body to produce antibodies to them.

Domestic cats who do not leave the apartment walls and do not have contact with other members of the cat also have a chance to catch the infection, despite the widespread judgment that it is not, and all diseases can be caught directly on the street. But in fact, a person can bring an infection to his apartment on his shoes, on his bag, on his clothes, because the viruses live on virtually any surface, and outside there are many unvaccinated animals, homeless, who are carriers of diseases.

With their secretions (saliva, feces, urine), as well as wool, microbes get to the ground, sand that you bring to where your pet lives with you. All this shows that vaccinations for kittens are needed even by living at home. Therefore, they can not be neglected in any case.

The most important thing in vaccination

In order to vaccinate kittens were successful, most effective and without complications, it is important to follow simple rules:

  1. It should be ensured that the vaccines are certified, and their origin is not in doubt.
  2. In order to minimize the risk (both the infection and the psychological), it is better to vaccinate the kittens in their habitat.
  3. Animals are not vaccinated at the age of 16-28 months, because at this time they are just changing their teeth.
  4. It is unacceptable to vaccinate pregnant and lactating cats so that this does not affect the health of their offspring. Animals are allowed to be vaccinated no less than thirty days before mating.
  5. You must comply with the rules of vaccination of your pet, every year vaccinated at the same time. Vaccinations for kittens are beginning to be done from 2-3 months with subsequent revaccination. If an adult is treated, the vaccine is repeated after a couple of weeks.
  6. Rehabilitation and postoperative time is not the most suitable time for vaccinations, it is prohibited. A cat that has undergone a course of antibiotics can be vaccinated only two weeks after the last dose of the drug.
  7. It is not necessary to conduct planned operations (castration) within 14 days after vaccination.
  8. Vaccination of cats that have been in contact with sick animals is prohibited.
  9. Protect your pet during vaccination against stress. It should not be done during crossings, changing the situation, new people in the apartment, exhibitions, guests during the week before and after the vaccination.
  10. Only healthy animals can be vaccinated (a veterinarian is needed).
Before vaccination for 2 weeks, deworming and treatment against ectoparasites is necessary.
  11. The vaccination of your cat should be trusted only by a professional veterinarian, as this will reduce the possibility of undesirable consequences.
  12. After vaccination for about 24 hours, your pet may look sluggish. If this condition lasts more than a day, and there are other symptoms, you should contact the veterinarian.

It is very important to understand that vaccination is not a guarantee that your pet will not catch any infection, it just reduces the likelihood.

It is a common opinion among cat owners that an animal with all vaccinations will never get sick and may have contact with any representatives of the animal world, but this opinion is erroneous. Vaccination is prevention, not treatment (exception: vaccination against lichen). For this reason, extra caution does not hurt, it is worthwhile to exclude your pet from contact with supposedly sick and actually infected animals.
