Inoculation from tuberculosis. What do I need to know?

When only a baby is born, the very first is a vaccine against tuberculosis - BCG. Do this inoculation about 3-4 days after birth (a newborn vaccine is injected into the left shoulder). Vaccination from tuberculosis is done so early because it is at this age that children are very susceptible to this kind of infection.

It should be noted that the BCG vaccine can not prevent the development of this terrible disease 100%, but it helps to prevent the transition of infection into a dangerous active stage. In other words, by making BCG vaccine to a newborn, we are doing some kind of prevention against this disease.

What is a tuberculosis vaccine?

The BCG vaccine is a vaccine strain that has been specifically weakened, so it can not cause tuberculosis, but thanks to its introduction, the body develops immunity against it. Note that for weakened and premature babies there is a "weaker" version - BCG-M.

As a rule, children are later diagnosed for having immunity to tuberculosis. This is done by injecting dead tuberculosis pathogens under the skin (Mantoux test). If a child has redness around the place where the injection was made, this means that the baby has TB immunity. If no reaction has been seen, most likely, you will be recommended to perform a booster, which, as a rule, is done at 7 and 14 years. Why at this age? The fact is that it is at this age that infection with tuberculosis most often occurs. Remember that if BCG vaccination was done correctly and the body has immunity to tuberculosis, then the child has a small hem on his arm.

Signs and symptoms of tuberculosis

The very first sign that a child has tuberculosis may be weakness. The ill child becomes rather irritable and does not gain weight, absentmindedness is often observed, the lymph nodes increase. In addition, the baby's temperature is slightly increased. If you measure it, then on the thermometer there will be 37.5 or more.

It should be noted that a person who falls ill, as a rule, does not pay attention to the first signs of the disease and consults a doctor only at a late stage. Remember that frequent coughing, which may intensify by evening, can also be a sign of this dangerous disease. And it sometimes happens that a person with good immunity can have this disease without any symptoms.

It should be noted that badger fat is considered a very good remedy for tuberculosis, but remember that this is a folk remedy that does not guarantee a 100% result.

Than tuberculosis is terrible

Tuberculosis is a disease that affects not only the lungs, but in complex forms it can also affect bones, kidneys and meninges, so that all newborns are vaccinated against tuberculosis.

How to protect yourself

Most often, this disease is infected by chronic alcoholics and people who do not have their own home. Also, tuberculosis can develop rapidly in people with weakened immunity or in those who eat irregularly. Knowing all these reasons, you must avoid contact with homeless people and alcoholics, and vaccination against tuberculosis and good nutrition is the best prevention against this disease.
