Inflammation of the century

Inflammation of the century - one of the most common diseases that occur in the field of ophthalmology. The disease has no age limits, but most often worried about the elderly. Inflammation of the eyelid has many etiological factors. Among the causes of this pathology are allergic, bacterial factors, a significant role is played by chronic foci of infection. The role of tumor processes in the development of this disease is proved.

Inflammation of the eyelids has a complex classification, which is based on clinical and morphological signs. The following types of this disease are distinguished: ulcerative, seborrheic, demodectic, allergic. These pathological conditions can be localized in the upper and lower eyelids.

Ulcerative blepharitis occurs as a result of complication of chronic infection (mainly staphylococcal). Bacteria penetrate the hair follicles of the eyelashes, which leads to a specific symptomatology. As a result of the progression of the disease, eyelashes may fall out, which is the result of their adhesion.

Seborrheic blepharitis is directly associated with the defeat of the scalp, behind-the-eye areas, eyebrows. The clinical picture of this pathological condition is characterized by the appearance on the margins of the eyelids of small sebaceous scales of grayish color. In some cases, eyelashes fall out.

The defeat of the eyelids by mites leads to demodectic blepharitis. The causative agent is localized near the roots of the eyelashes. The main clinical manifestations of this disease: intense itching, purulent discharge from the eyes, feeling of rezi. A sharp hyperemia of the eyelids, their swelling can serve as an important sign for the diagnosis of this pathological condition.

Allergic blepharitis occurs as a result of an immune reaction of hypersensitivity, which is provoked by cosmetic, medicinal, perfumery, pollen, dust, household chemicals, chemicals. This disease is characterized by a sudden onset. The first sign of inflammation is the edema of the eyelid, then mucus discharge, pain in the eyes, lacrimation, photophobia join. This disease is characterized by seasonal current.

Inflammation of the upper eyelid significantly worsens the patient's condition, leads to a decrease in visual function, in the absence of treatment, promotes generalization of the process with the development of septic complications. When the first symptoms appear, urgent care is provided, consisting of sanitary and hygienic treatment followed by administration of solutions containing antibacterial agents. Inflammation of the lower eyelid is characterized by less intense clinical symptoms. This pathological condition also tends to generalize, so intensive antibiotic therapy is used to treat it.

For the prevention of blepharitis of any form and localization, it is necessary to abandon the use of contact lenses, cosmetics for the eyes. High efficiency has external therapy, which consists in the use of warm compresses. They can include tea, black tea, marigold, chamomile. In the presence of intense itching, it is forbidden to scratch and rub eyes (this can lead to the ingress of other microbes and complication of the underlying disease). Wiping the edges of the eyelids with boiled water, infusions of herbs gives a positive therapeutic effect. This reduces hyperemia, itching, reducing the intensity of inflammation.

Inflammation of the eyelid is a dangerous condition that can lead to serious complications, but with timely and proper treatment all symptoms disappear within two weeks. The generalization of the process, the appearance of chronic, stagnant forms significantly worsens the prognosis.
