Immunization Calendar for Infants

Kids come to this world weak and unprotected, and for the first time they really need our help. The closest person, Mom, is always ready to protect, regret, feed, but even she is not able to prevent all existing threats in this world that lie in wait for a small person. First of all it concerns infectious diseases. Thank God, and nowadays most of them are not so dangerous as before, as mass vaccination against most of them is carried out, which allows not only not to get sick of every single child, but also to fight infections globally. The vaccination schedule for children is designed in such a way that protection against diseases is produced as efficiently as possible, and the possible consequences of vaccination are minimal.

In the maternity hospital, the baby is given two injections: immediately after birth or in the first 24 hours, hepatitis B vaccine and tuberculosis vaccine (BCG) on the third-seventh day of life. In the future, the vaccination schedule for children up to one year implies a hepatitis revaccination twice more if there are no cases of hepatitis B in the family and three times if the mother is his carrier or had it during pregnancy.

A vaccination against tuberculosis, or BCG, has one peculiarity: on the fourth or sixth week after it, in its place, usually in the upper third of the shoulder, an abscess can form, and then a long crust is normal, and one should not worry about it. After two or four months, the crust subsides, and under it remains a small hem. None of the stages of its formation in any case do not need to process it, and when swimming and changing clothes with him you need to be as cautious as possible.

When the baby is a month old, it is usually taken to a clinic for the first time, where, in addition to the examination, he will be revaccinated against hepatitis B. The next vaccination will take place in three months - this is immunization from DTP and polio. DTP is a vaccine for pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus. This vaccination is quite dangerous for complications, since the DTP vaccine can sometimes cause a general reaction of the body: usually it is a weakness and drowsiness, but the temperature can also increase, so doctors often recommend that you stock up the febrifuge, and even give it in advance for the prevention. This, of course, excessive reinsurance, but to buy the medicine just in case stands.

At 4.5 months, DTP and poliovirus revaccination is carried out, which is repeated in six months, only then the third vaccination against hepatitis is added to it. Usually, despite the fact that the schedule of vaccinations for children indicates one date - six months, it is recommended to do these vaccinations separately - it is better to go to the polyclinic once more than to put the extra burden on the baby's body.

Further, the vaccination schedule for children assumes a long break - right up to the year when the schedule comes a new immunization - from mumps, rubella and measles. Also, in case the mother of the child was ill with hepatitis B, he will be given a fourth vaccination from him. In this case, some deviation from the standard schedule is possible - the third vaccination can be done not in six, but in two months.

Such vaccination for children is recognized as optimal, and it is adhered to not only in our country, but in many others. Recently there have been debates about the advisability of vaccination as such: many believe that this is a serious burden for the body, as well as with vaccination, a greater risk of complications. It should be noted that most of the infections against which immunization is performed cause serious and dangerous diseases, and the risk of getting them is much higher than the risk of complications from vaccination. In addition, children without preschool and educational institutions are extremely reluctant to take. If you decide to carry out immunization, then you need to strictly adhere to the schedule, which assumes a vaccination schedule for children, plus or minus a couple of weeks - otherwise, if you miss a regular vaccination, the previous one will be useless.
