Hysteroscopy with WFD (separate diagnostic curettage): indications, consequences

Hysteroscopy with separate diagnostic curettage (abbreviated as WFD) is a method for diagnosing gynecological diseases and removing various neoplasms. Many women are faced with this procedure, and almost every one is frightening, since the term "scraping", used in simple speech, sounds somewhat unpleasant. Today we will consider this method in more detail, find out how it is carried out, in which cases it is shown and what its consequences are.

A little bit about anatomy ...

The uterus is an organ covered with a mucous membrane, which differs from the mucous membranes of other organs. After all, its main task is to preserve pregnancy. Every month the thickness of the uterus gradually increases. If conception does not occur (because we often have different plans with nature), this thickened layer appears in the form of menstrual blood. Then the process repeats.

What is hysteroscopy?

You can call this procedure "golden medical middle". It makes it possible to visualize the uterine cavity, revealing various neoplasms - polyps, adhesions, adhesions, submucous nodes (uterine myoma) and other malignancies, including malignant ones. But the purpose of the study is not only diagnostic. During the procedure, spikes can be dissected, cryodestruction of polyps (effect on them with low temperature), an intrauterine device is extracted or detected.

Hysteroscopy with RDV resembles abortion - all the uterine formations are removed together with its upper layer. However, if earlier the procedure was very painful, today scraping is carried out with the use of analgesic agents that help to remove painful sensations. Previously, hysteroscopy was also actively conducted, but because of the impossibility of visualization of manipulation, frequent complications were observed, up to the removal of the basal layer of the uterus and the impossibility of becoming pregnant. Today, thanks to hysteroscopy, the doctor sees everything that happens inside. The risk of any damage in this case is minimal. Although in many respects everything depends on the qualification of the doctor.

Attention! In 90% of cases, the method allows you to confirm a previously diagnosed diagnosis.

To begin with, scraping is performed under the control of the hysteroscopy of the mucous layer of the cervix, and then of the uterus itself.

Hysteroscopy: indications for use

Hysteroscopy is shown:

  1. With violations of the menstrual cycle, the causes of which could not be diagnosed by other studies.
  2. Myoma (benign tumor on the muscular layer of the uterus).
  3. Tumor processes.
  4. Dysplasia of the endometrium (excessive overgrowth of the inner uterine layer).
  5. Elimination of the consequences of incomplete abortion, which led to inflammation.
  6. Infertility.
  7. Spontaneous miscarriage.

Diagnosis of many diseases with hysteroscopy with RDV greatly facilitates the process of treatment, as the doctor can remove tumors immediately upon detection. Or send the histological material taken from the uterine cavity to the laboratory. That's why the procedure is conducted under general anesthesia.

Is there a risk of complications?

Hysteroscopy with the RDV was really fraught with serious complications. Today the procedure is almost completely safe, and only in 1% of cases there are complications. Among them are the following:

  1. Injury of the uterus or cervix. It is accompanied by a sharp pain in the abdomen, a decrease in blood pressure until the fainting condition.
  2. Infection or occurrence of an exacerbation of those diseases that were not diagnosed before the study. Often, inflammation occurs with an untreated disease or non-compliance with hygiene.
  3. Endometritis (inflammation of the upper inner layer of the uterus) reports itself aching pain in the abdominal region, fever and bloody discharge from the vagina. It appears within a few days after the operation.
  4. The ingress of oxygen into the uterine blood vessels.
  5. Abundant bleeding. Bloody discharge after the operation is observed for 3-5 days, but if they are very plentiful and last for several days, then you should immediately consult a doctor.
  6. Side effects as a reaction to anesthesia.
  7. Hematometer. Congestion in the uterine cavity of blood can appear in the case when hysteroscopy with WFD was performed to eliminate spasm of the uterus. If the uterus remains in a spasm, the blood in it, which must go out for several days, accumulates, causing painful sensations.

There is also a risk of damage to the mucous layer of the uterus. The doctor can accidentally hook a deeper layer of the mucous organ. It can not be restored, therefore, it is very important that such gynecological operations are carried out by an experienced doctor who is guaranteed not to catch anything unnecessary.

How does the procedure work?

Many women, first of all, are interested in this issue, as the forthcoming surgical intervention frightens them. But in fact you have nothing to fear - the operation is under general anesthesia and usually does not give the woman any unpleasant sensations. Description is based on reviews of women who have already done gynecological operations before. Before the procedure it is important to take smears for the degree of purity of the vagina, to exclude the likelihood of syphilis and HIV infection.

To arrive in the gynecological center it is necessary for 30-40 minutes prior to operation. In the morning it is important not to eat any food. Blood and urine are taken for analysis, ECG is performed (shows the work of the heart and blood vessels), blood pressure is measured. Consultation with a surgeon and an anesthesiologist is being conducted. Bandage to the knee to avoid blood clots.

In the operating room, an injection in the vein is made - an easy anesthetic, which allows the procedures to be carried out completely painless for the patient. After about 20 minutes, the very curettage, as well as the action of anesthesia, ends. The patient is given a dropper. If the hysteroscopy with the WFD was carried out in the morning, then in the evening you can go home with peace of mind. The very next day after her, women go to work. Hysteroscopy (the price will be specified below) does not require a long recovery.

After the operation, as the doctor warns, there is the possibility of the appearance of trailing pain and spotting in a small amount. It is forbidden to have sex and exercise for about 2 weeks. Also prescribe drugs. First of all, an antibiotic ("Amoxiclav", etc.) and a drug based on lactic acid bacteria. If there is an elevated level of bleeding, appoint "No-shpu."

Are there any contraindications to hysteroscopy?

Hysteroscopy (or curettage) is categorically contraindicated:

  1. With severe uterine bleeding.
  2. Pregnancy.
  3. Oncology of the cervix.
  4. Inflammatory processes of the genital organs (vaginitis, endometritis, cervicitis, bacterial vaginosis).

Hysteroscopy before IVF

IVF - artificial insemination occurring outside the body of a woman. The fertilized egg from the test tube is transplanted into the organism of the future mother. One of the frequent methods of solving the issue of infertility. Hysteroscopy with RDV before IVF makes it possible to exclude uterine pathologies and prepare the body for future pregnancy. Within a few months after the procedure, IVF is recommended.
