How to write an annotation: an example and tips

How do I write an annotation? This question is asked by many, because the so-called "sammari" ("description" from English) may be needed both for an article, and for a program or for a project. Depending on the details, special requirements may be imposed on the annotation. We will consider them.

What is an abstract

As already mentioned above, the abstract is a description. This word came from the Latin counterpart, which means "remark." That is why one more definition of the annotation is a brief description.

How to write an annotation

So, you have already done some written work. Now it needs to be properly organized. How do I write an annotation for a job? Now you will understand that this is absolutely not a problem. The main thing is to follow the basic rules and the following tips:

  • Include a description of the main topic;
  • Write briefly and in essence;
  • Highlight the main thing;
  • Tell the essence of the work without going into the key details;
  • Intrigue.

What you need to know before writing an annotation

How a person is met by clothes, and a scientific article is met by annotation. Its task is to show that the author is able to systematize and analyze information, and briefly, harmoniously and clearly understand it. How to write an abstract to an article so that the work looks as presentable as possible?

It is recommended to insert the following speech speed:

  • This article argues ...
  • The article introduces the study ...
  • Particular attention is focused on ...
  • Characteristic features are singled out and described ...
  • The relevance of this article is ...
  • The author traces the formation of ...
  • Provided justification for ...
  • Set out the views on ...

It is important to emphasize in the annotation what the innovation of the work is, what it stands out among others, why it should be read.

Examples

Let's consider an example how to write an annotation to an article (the work contains projects of space elevators):

"This work is an analysis of the latest achievements in the field of space aerotechnics, systematized possible projects for the development of space elevators, based on these data are the advantages and disadvantages of each model."

Annotation to an economic article:

"The article introduces the study in the field of state financing and public procurement, and proposes a reorganization of the process, based on an analysis of the financing of the education and healthcare systems of states such as the United States, Britain and Korea, comparing the economic reforms of the Russian Federation and these countries. Between economic processes in Russia and its mentality. "

To the project

In fact, how to write an annotation for a project is not too different from how to compose a sammari to a scientific article. In both cases, innovation is an indispensable condition. So, in the annotation, first of all, it should be indicated what the author brought with the new work. The difference is that the abstract to the project is usually larger and larger than to the article.

Annotations are written in the same style as the work was done. It should clearly and dryly set out all the information. For the project, this means the following:

  • Specify a topic;
  • The essence of the project is the purpose of its writing;
  • What problems are analyzed, what is the focus of attention;
  • What are the results of the research / analysis carried out;
  • Conclusions, based on the work done.

Example

Since the projects can be completely different, the annotations to them too can be quite different. In order to know how to correctly write an annotation, it is better to consider a couple of examples.

An example for an economic project:

  • The task of the project: the formation of an experimental product, which allows to increase the degree of solvency of the residents of the district.
  • Present new banking services taking into account the demand and the introduction of technological processes.

Problems of the project:

  • Professional activity in the financial sphere.
  • Analysis of data and practice of providing services by the bank as a basis for acquiring the experience of research.
  • Generalization and formation of the summarized results in the reporting form.

Project Content:

  • Collect and classify types of bank services for residents.
  • Proceeding from the survey, draw conclusions about the need for banking services in a particular region.
  • Identify the shortcomings of this approach.

Completion of the project:

  • As a result of the project, the research team submits a report on the work done, indicating the results and conclusions.
  • Each of the members of the team demonstrates their own considerations about banking services, coordinating them with the leader of the group.

An example of an annotation to a course project:

"The purpose of course design was, first of all, the design of a program that is convenient for use by a simple inhabitant.

The program was prepared according to the requirements set forth in the course design task, the teacher's wishes and logical conclusions on the application of this program by the subsequent user.

No less important goal of the course design was the refinement of the student's skills as a future C ++ programmer, developing his understanding of the requirements and wishes of potential customers, the ability to think logically and work within the specified time.

When solving the presented problem, the BorlandC ++ Builder6Full software package was used.

Each stage of the program was developed step by step:

  • Input the necessary string variables in the corresponding fields;
  • The description of the editing, translation, exit and adding of a new word;
  • The designation of conditions for the output of the translation of the entered word, the indication of the fields where the translation is output;
  • In addition, the program is tied to two text files containing a list of English and Russian words in the appropriate order, there is the possibility of expanding the lists using the same program.

In the BorlandC ++ Builder6Full software package, a dialog window form was developed, the purpose of each of the buttons and input / output windows on this form was determined.

As a result, a program was compiled that translates the word entered by the user or gives a message stating that there is no such word in the database. The user has the right to add it himself or not to add (optional). The development of the program takes into account possible cases of entering more than one word in a different order. "

To the program

The program in this case is understood as an educational plan, that is, a work program for discipline. This raises the question: how to write an annotation to the program?

It should contain:

  • Normative documents, according to which it is drawn up;
  • The purpose of the academic discipline, and how many hours are allocated to it;
  • Distribution by topic or list of main sections;
  • How the appraisal is conducted, how often, at what time.

An important point: the compiler of such an annotation is not indicated. It is also necessary to distinguish the concepts of an explanatory note and a summary. The first is larger in volume.

conclusions

The article considers how to write an annotation to an article, project, and program. When composing any description, one should remember what the abstract means. In essence, it is the answer to the question, what is the document to which it was written. So, there is no place in it for empty reasoning "not on business", but there is only a dry and concise statement of the facts.
