The inhabitants of Russia knew about the properties of the footcloth. "Homemade sock" became popular during the reign of Peter I. The king's desire to always and in all conform to European standards led to a small modernization of the country and the army. The changes came after the travel of the ruler to Holland, where the garment had long been used.

Years later, the king, again guided by the example of developed countries, tried to abolish the wearing of a footcloth and introduce stockings into fashion. This idea is known as a bad experience in the world of clothes, and soon it was abandoned. Hosiery socks were not practical and did not have the properties for which the caress was valued by representatives of the Russian army.

Since then, the shirt has become an integral part of military apparel and the subject of ridicule in folk jokes, a source of inspiration for writers and poets. One can say with certainty that well-known literary works have taught many people how to wrap footcloths in order to serve them for a long time.

Russia is a little behind in this matter from its neighbors. Warm and comfortable footcloths so "fell to the soul" of the Russian army, that until 2010 there was no talk about the introduction of new military clothing. But here there is also a plus - servicemen in the army rear have people to tell about the peculiarities of uniforms, how to properly wear and reel dresses. Such experience and knowledge is not everyone can share!

In 2014, the army nevertheless passed the modernization stage - ordinary socks and boots came to replace handkerchiefs and boots.
