How to protect grapes from wasps? The most effective methods
Juicy and sweet berries of grapes like not only people. They do not mind eating and wasps. They easily gnaw through the skin of the fetus, reaching up to the tender flesh. And although they can not eat the whole crop, but the "berries" that are "ripped" by them are rotting, as a result the whole brush is affected by bacteria and fungus. Damage, thus, increases at times. So how to protect grapes from wasps?
Such a struggle with wasps in grapes has its own characteristics. First of all, the traps differ in the principle of action. In the first case, a poisoning bait is prepared. For these purposes ripened fruit will fit (no matter which one). Sweet fragrant pulp is ground and mixed with any effective insecticide. After that, a kind of "dinner" is offered by insects. Arrange containers with bait on the perimeter of the vineyard. The insects, having tasted the generously offered goodies, will perish. The only "but" of this method is that birds or your pets can be bitten by a poison. Therefore, show increased vigilance.
There is also a very simple way how to protect grapes from wasps that accidentally flew to your plot. True, it is suitable for small plantations. A spacious tulle sac is sewed for each ripe bunch. You put it on a brush and grab it from above with a string. Clearly, to bypass and close each bunch of berries on a large plot is quite difficult. But on modest vineyards, this method is not bad at showing itself.
There are also more exotic recipes for how to protect grapes from wasps. For example, some recommend spraying the brush with onion infusions or garlic broth (supposedly their bad smell repels insects). But you, most likely, also do not like the berry with foreign sharp smell. So let's leave such original methods for desperate experimenters, and we will use proven and effective means ourselves.
