How to format a hard disk - local and external

As is known to all experienced programmers and slightly less experienced users of any personal computer, the main part of it, the "brain" and memory is the hard drive, or, as it is more often called, the hard drive. This detail is very important, because it determines all the vital functions and tasks of the computer - its speed, speed of execution of programs and the amount of available memory. One who often uses a PC, knows that memory tends not only to decrease, but also to clog (due to unsuccessful or incomplete deletion of any files). In this case, the computer can be returned to its work capacity, full return and speed of tasks can be learned about the work of "antivirus" and how to format the hard disk.

Formatting the hard drive is sometimes just necessary to avoid the occurrence of errors in the work or the emergence of viruses. You can use special programs for this process, or you can use special tools offered by Microsoft Windows operating systems. Before formatting the hard disk, it is worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the appropriate help services, which will give a full picture of the application's operation. It should be noted that the process of formatting is simple enough: if the hard drive is divided into several partitions, then one of them is system (it contains the Windows files needed to start the system), and the rest are logical ones. Formatting is possible only for logical partitions - this is important to remember, since an attempt to perform an operation with a system partition can lead to problems with starting the computer. To start the process on the selected partition, you should "right-click" it and select "Format" in the window that opens. Then, just click on the "Start" button and wait for the process to finish.

Separate before formatting the hard drive, you should check it, it is possible - to remove some programs and disable the "antivirus", which can hinder the process. If you need to perform an operation on the system drive, then you have to work hard. The fact is that standard Windows tools are not designed for this, and the formatting will need to be done through the BIOS shell. This method is quite difficult, since you will have to use the installation disk with the operating system. Once the licensed CD is installed in the drive, you will need to assign a reboot of the computer, during which to press the "Del" button and go to the BIOS menu. When you start the installation of the operating system, you will be able to select an item such as checking the hard drive and formatting it. The rest of the process will be taken directly by copying system files and installing the operating system.

It is important to remember that when you format any partition (especially when the full formatting operation is performed), all files are deleted on it, so if you do not want to lose important information, it must be copied to external media beforehand. This should be said separately - the operation can be performed on both built-in and external hard drives, and external disks can be mostly logical. Interested in the question, how to choose an external hard drive? Naturally, by the size of memory - the more its available volume, the more files you can download.

Thus, to speed up and improve the work of the computer, it is necessary to take care of its "internal organs", in particular - about the hard drive. If you have basic knowledge, at least know how to do memory cleaning, defragmentation and know how to format a hard disk, you will have minimal problems with PC operation.
