How to draw a swan with a simple pencil?

Today our task is to figure out how to draw a swan with a pencil. Note that the outlines and shape of this bird are set by its feathers, so drawing them, you need to pay attention to the shadows, texture and light.

We will talk about how to draw a swan in stages. The general principle of this process is the generalization of nature. This bird is easy to draw: its shape can be decomposed into two ovals representing the head and body, as well as the neck and wings, which can be set by gracefully curved curves.

Let's start studying how to draw a swan. At the first stage we determine the location of his figure. We draw the center line of the sheet, and it will be the axis of our drawing.

Below we draw an ovoid oval. Make sure that you have enough room left for the neck and head. The narrow end of the oval is pointing slightly down into the right corner.

From the oval up, draw an elegantly curved line of the neck. On its upper part draw another small oval - a sketch for the bird's head. Draw the second line, making out the neck of the swan. Note that the neck is wider at the bottom than the top.

Draw two graceful lines for the outstretched wings. To the resulting upper contour lines, draw the lower ones to get the wings of the desired shape. At the same time, outline the silhouettes of the feathers.

Mark the location of the legs of the swan: the hips in the form of small ovals and paws.

Mark the eye and draw a beak. Spread lightly on the drawing, making sure that the lines were barely visible and did not interfere with your future work.

The next stage of the work is detailing.

Now it's time to think about how to draw a swan, so that it looks realistic.

To do this, the image needs to be made more specific: specify individual details, and draw contours with smooth lines. It is necessary to round off the places in which the shape of the swan's body changes: the connection of the head with the neck; The transition from the chest to the body and from the trunk to the legs.

In more detail you need to draw the wings of a bird. Perhaps this will take a long time, because you need to pay attention to each feather. Drawing the basic feathers, you can outline fluffy little feathers under the wings and on the stomach. Work out the shape of the beak, do not forget about the membranes on the paws.

The next step is hatching. How to draw a swan to make it look like alive? Assuming that the light source is located at the top right, start hatching the bird with lines of different lengths; For light tones, use a pencil 2H or HB, hatching the lines with curved lines, repeating the shape of the body. Draw the feathers on the head, the neck of the swan, remembering that the light source is on the upper right.

We track the glare on the cheeks and on the head, we draw attention to the fact that the shadows outline the shape of the head. By cross-contrasting hatching, we draw a beak, we shade our eyes in the upper part, leaving a white highlight.

We add dark tones to the wings, to the neck, to the areas that are in the shade. We use pencil 2B and HB. Note that the feathers on the lower part of the neck are larger than the top, so the strokes need to be made longer, more curved, and to keep a longer distance between them.

Now you know how to draw a swan. If you did not immediately get it, do not worry! Train - and the swan will necessarily come to life on the sheet!
