How does the apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes work, and how to choose it?

The popularity of polypropylene pipes is promoted by such advantages as durability, low weight and relative cheapness. But they have one more huge plus. It's easy to install.

Plastic pipes can be joined by three basic methods: gluing, clutch crimping and welding. The last mentioned method is the simplest and most reliable. To implement it, no additional mounting parts are needed. It is enough to have only an apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes.

How to weld polypropylene

The connecting seam arises as a result of diffusion of the boundary layers of the polymer of the areas to be joined. In order to give the plastic molecules freedom and mobility, sufficient for mutual penetration, the material must be heated to the state of amorphous fluidity. After this, it is sufficient to press the joined edges one to the other and to withstand in this fixed position a time sufficient for the consolidation of the seam.

It is clear that manually, using improvised means like a soldering iron, iron or other household heaters, it is difficult to carry out this work, if at all possible.

All these operations are performed by the apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes. The jointed section of the strength is not inferior to the mechanical qualities of any other piece of plumbing, but for the success of consistent technological operations, certain regulations must be observed. First, the joined edges must be as close as possible to each other, and therefore, they must be cut very evenly at a right angle. Secondly, you should strictly maintain the temperature regime. With excessive heating, the plastic will "flow", and the entire part will be deformed, which must be mounted, and if the heat is insufficient, the seam will turn out to be unstable due to insufficient diffusion.

For pipes large and small

Apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes - equipment, as a rule, professional, and acquire its plumbers, in the nature of their activities, facing the task of installing or repairing house or external communications. These devices can be small, if they are designed to work with pipelines with a diameter of up to 120 mm, or rather oversized, when it comes to large sizes. Accordingly, the "large-caliber" pipe, the more stringent the requirements for the density and accuracy of edge compression, because the time of the entire technological cycle is limited by the period of hardening of the heated layer.

The apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes of large diameter is necessarily equipped with groups of ring grippers, with the help of which the welded edges are mechanically pressed. At the same time, a similar device designed for a conventional water pipe is much simpler, and consists of a face (a rotating blade with knives providing a flat surface of the connected part) and a heater equipped with a TEN and a graduated temperature regulator.

Choice of apparatus

Each master, depending on the nomenclature of the work performed by him, can choose the most suitable apparatus for welding polypropylene pipes. The price of this equipment depends on its versatility, power, complexity of the device and configuration. For each type of connecting pipes and fittings, a nozzle of the appropriate diameter is made, coated with an anti-adhesive layer to prevent the melt from adhering to the surfaces. The most affordable in the price sense are, as a rule, the most simple welding machine.

For welding polypropylene pipes in households with a small amount of work conditions you can use the so-called "iron". Despite the external similarity, the device is so called because of the fundamental similarity of its main working part with the heater of this useful object in the household. It consists of a heating element, a thermostat and a heating plate with holes of appropriate diameters. It is not difficult to use it, but first it is recommended to practice on trimming pipes to get the necessary skills.
