"Exide Technologies" has its history since 1888, when V. V. Gibbs, having acquired patents from the French inventor Clement Payen, founded the Electric Storage Battery Company. Mr. Gibbs immediately realized that the market was won by Exide batteries, the feedback on them should be invariably positive. The company began to make worldwide fame in two years, when the first serious contract was concluded - the ESBC batteries went to Philadelphia. After that, the young and daring producer was given the right to build up new-fashioned self-propelled trams with batteries. In general, outstanding quality has made Exide products recognizable. Even the US government wished to buy batteries to equip their first submarines with them. In 1912, the manufacturer began to install Exide-batteries on Cadillacs - this was a real technological breakthrough of its time. The thing is that it was very difficult to start an automobile engine before the invention of a starter battery. The process itself was very dangerous and often led to injuries to the hands. In order to simplify and secure this process, the Cadillac company decided to install the starter batteries Exide in the engines. Feedback on the new effective methodology glorified the company around the world.

What's in a name?

As you have already noticed, the company "Exide" did not immediately receive its sonorous name. At first it was called the Electric Storage Battery Company. So where did the sonorous "Exide" come from? Few people know that electric vehicles appeared earlier than internal combustion engines. Some of these "quick horses" could reach speeds of up to 40 km / h. At the end of the XIX century this miracle-yudo became very popular, but the trouble was that the batteries were rather weak. So our company decided to create a particularly powerful battery, which was later called Excellent Oxide, which was abbreviated as Exide.

In 1954, the management of the concern decided to split the production of batteries. So there were two independent divisions: automobile and industrial. This decision was dictated by the need to improve the service of these so different markets. The manufacturer has always tried to achieve the ideal quality by releasing Exide batteries, - customer reviews have always served as the main marketing tool for the company. But there is one more factor that keeps the company Exide on the top - the manufacturer always accumulated batteries with the latest technology. This approach to production allowed the products of this company to participate in almost all of the most notable technical breakthroughs of the twentieth century. In 1969, the lunar lander of the national aerospace agency used energy from a drive developed by Exide Technologies. The products are so well proven that the government has given permission for the use of nickel-zinc batteries "Exide" in all subsequent lunar missions "Apollo".

In 1987, General Battery Corporation was acquired, so the company's product line became so wide that it could be used without exaggeration in every US car.

NASCAR

Exide Technologies sponsors many racing competitions. The company is the official partner of BMW Motorsport in the DTM series. In addition, Exide batteries are the official NASBAR race car, so the company has the exclusive right to use the acronym NASCAR in the names of its products.

The creation of units in Europe began with the purchase of local industry giants - Jimala, Big Bateriz, etc. The European consumer highly appreciated the Exide batteries, the price of which was always very democratic and the quality was perfect. In 2001, the company entered into a contract with NASA to supply batteries for the new project X-38. The device for the return of the crew of the X-38 was developed as a replacement for the morally obsolete Shuttle project. The mere fact that the company was admitted to such a serious project inspires respect, because only to whom the safety of the ISS crew will not be trusted! Unfortunately, in 2002 the project X-38 was closed, because the special commission found it too expensive. Thus, the only batteries that have been tested by space are Exide batteries, which you can buy at the nearest store.
