It does not matter if you are on a business trip, on a visit to relatives or just to travel, the sights of Nizhnevartovsk when planning a visit to this city should be studied by you so that you can inspect them. Despite the fact that the mentioned settlement is relatively young, it still has its own history and structures worthy of attention. Believe me, Nizhnevartovsk will be able to subdue you with its beautiful buildings, monuments and other objects, as well as the hospitality of its inhabitants.

History of Nizhnevartovsk

The city of Nizhnevartovsk appeared in 1909. More precisely, it was at this time, with the creation on the right side of the Ob River, the quay, to which the merchant steamers pestered for the purpose of acquiring a stock of firewood, began its history. Soon near the pier was built 5 houses, which were inhabited by 11 people. At the beginning of 1924 the Nizhnevartovsk village council was formed, and in 1964 the village turned into a town-type settlement.

However, the biggest impetus to the development of Nizhnevartovsk was the opening in May 1965 of an oil fountain with a depth of more than 2,000 meters, which was named "Samotlor". In 1966, the first construction company - Megiongazstroy Trust was created on the territory of the village. And in 1972 Nizhnevartovsk was given the status of the city. A few years later, the construction of the railroad to Surgut, which connected many large cities of Russia and Nizhnevartovsk, began.

Today the city is a large industrial, cultural and business center, which is dynamically developing. There are all conditions for a comfortable life: educational institutions, various enterprises, entertainment facilities, and therefore there are prerequisites for interesting excursions.

Memorial plaque and the layout of the locomotive

So, the most famous sights of Nizhnevartovsk are the memorial plaque and the layout of the locomotive, which were installed in honor of the 30th anniversary of the arrival of the first train. It is worth noting that this infrastructure was built in 1976. There is an object on the station square.

The uniqueness of this landmark of Nizhnevartovsk lies in the fact that after the opening of the oil fountain in this area, great importance was attached to the development of transport, including rail. Without this type of transport it is unlikely that such a rapid development of Samotlor would become possible. The length of the railway from Tyumen to Surgut was 700 km. It took 9 years to build it, at the end of which Surgut station was able to accept the first freight train with 4,000 tons of cargo in its wagons.

The most famous monuments of Nizhnevartovsk

Considering the sights of Nizhnevartovsk, it is worth paying attention to the monuments, which are very numerous in the city. And each of them can be of interest to the tourist.

Since Nizhnevartovsk owes much to the discovery of "Samotlor", it would be surprising if there were no monument to the conquerors of the oil fountain on its territory. So, in 1978, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Nizhnevartovsk district, a bronze figure of a worker was installed at the crossroads of noisy highways on the glory of Slava , in one hand a burning torch, and in the other - a hammer. The sculpture has a height of 12 meters and stands on a granite pedestal.

The city of Nizhnevartovsk is famous for one more monument - F.E. Dzerzhinsky. It is installed in front of the GUVD building. The creation of the sculpture was worked by the local artist Anatoly Troyan, an MVD investigator in retirement who, incidentally, repeatedly represented his works at exhibitions. The erection of the monument was personally paid for by law enforcement officials.

Church of the Nativity

Those who are interested in the religious attractions of Nizhnevartovsk, worth visiting the Church of the Nativity of Christ, which was opened in 1998. The domes and crosses of the shrine are covered with gold leaf, and inside the temple are four altars.

Memorial of glory of Nizhnevartovsk sport - pride of citizens

This object is located at the entrance to the stadium "Central", which was opened in 2002. It is presented in the form of a large golden ball. The lower part of the surface of the memorial is covered with asterisks. On each of them is written the name of one of the sportsmen of the city, which brought Russia many victories in international competitions. We are talking about such personalities as boxers Maletin Alexander, Makarenko Eugene, Balakshin George, volleyball player Dineikin Stanislav and others, no less famous.

And, of course, besides visiting the above-described sights, being in the city, it's just worth going to the center. Nizhnevartovsk can offer guests many options for pleasant pastime. If it happens that you will be passing through this city, then consider the option of walking along it, since the station is located near the center.
