Heaters of antifreeze. How to connect the antifreeze heater? Electric antifreeze heater

Unfortunately, the weather conditions of most regions of Russia do not allow a quick and comfortable start-up of the car in the winter season. However, to date, there are many ways that can destroy this myth. One such device is the antifreeze heaters, which are also called pre-starters. Why so? Because they heat the antifreeze even before the engine starts, thereby ensuring its normal start-up and operation. When the antifreeze is warmed to normal temperature, the engine will be cats to start at any time of the year.

Benefits

The main advantage of this device is that thanks to its operation it is possible to start the engine in almost any frost, and this is a fact. If we consider this point in more detail, it is worth noting also a reduced load on the starter and engine aggregates in general, since with useless turns of the ignition key, their wear and tear is also significantly reduced. Another thing is when the engine and all systems will be already warmed up - the car will start from a half-turn. In addition, the preheater toxol heater has a positive effect on the initial fuel consumption. And thanks to the availability of additional functions with this machine, it is possible to warm up not only the engine, but also the interior. And in addition, you can get rid of the icing of the windows.

Varieties

It is worth noting that the tosol heaters, depending on whether they are intended for a gasoline or diesel engine, can have different technical characteristics and a different operating principle. However, what unites them in one is the way of heating. Some work on the energy of gasoline, others use electricity. By the way, the principle of operation is almost the same for everyone and is based on the use of common heating elements - metal electric spirals or posistors (these are special ceramic elements that prevent the device from exceeding the set temperature).

In addition, it is worth highlighting a variety of electric tosol heaters. This can be devices powered by the vehicle's on-board electricity (i.e., powered by battery power) and so-called "stationary" 220 volts connected to the mains.

What is the electric heater of antifreeze?

This device belongs to the type of preheaters, which have in their design special heaters (tubular electric heaters), which raise the temperature of the cooled tosole to the working one and circulate it in a circle in the motor system of the car.

After the liquid has heated up to the set value, this device is switched off, accordingly TEN does not heat the antifreeze. Some preheater models are also equipped with special cabin heaters or devices that charge batteries. However, such instruments are most often dependent on the 220 volt mains supply, since they are not connected to a different source of energy. Thus, it is only rational to use a similar engine oil cooler in a garage or in a parking lot, where there is access to similar sources of energy.

Why is it more profitable to use 220-volt devices?

And now let's talk about the advantages. The first reason for acquiring these data is the antifreeze heaters (that is, those that operate on the 220 V network), this is their low price and reliability. But most importantly, because of what motorists appreciate such a device, it's its simplicity and ease of installation. Mount it and connect to the system is much easier than a similar device, working from the vehicle's on-board network. In addition, such a device will warm up the cabin and charge the battery, while the onboard heater will only discharge it with its TAN.

If your car has such a device as a tosol heater (VAZ 2110 - including), it will always be warmed up, accordingly, you will not waste your time and nerves to warm the engine in severe frost. After a few minutes of this heater you will not only have a warm engine, but also a warm interior. But after all, each of us knows firsthand what it's like to sit in the cold in a cold car. At -20 degrees the cold penetrates right up to the bones, and barely the working stove slowly begins to serve warm air. In addition to this - icy glass, which is almost impossible to get rid of ice ... In general, the picture is not the best, especially for owners of VAZs, in which bad not only "obeshumka", but also the stove. With a heater, you will always sit in a warm salon and will not be tormented by tearing frozen pieces of ice from the outside of the glass.

Devices operating from the vehicle's on-board network

But for those who often like to travel, similar stationary devices will not bring so much benefit as those that work from the vehicle's on-board network. Agree, it is not always on the road to drop the time to find a permanent source of energy 220V. Therefore, if you are a lover of long-distance travel or just a person engaged in private cargo transportation on your own car, then this device is simply irreplaceable for you. However, it must also be taken into account that such tosol heaters will "eat" a lot of energy from the battery, so for the future - install more powerful batteries in the car. For example, instead of 65-ampere, you can mount the device at 75 A / h and so on. But the main thing is to guess with the size, because the more powerful the battery, the larger its dimensions. In the case of multi-tonnage trucks, the situation is simpler: they have two huge batteries of 12 volts each, the capacities of which are sufficient for the full operation of the most powerful heater.

It is also necessary to note the existence of models of a thermoset type. Such devices can keep the working temperature of the antifreeze up to two days without any additional expenditure of energy.

How do the tosol heaters work with a pump?

The principle of operation of this tool is very simple. The heater burns fuel (diesel or gasoline), which is taken from the car's power system, and due to this, the engine coolant heats up. The antifreeze is then pumped through a large circle and passes through an internal combustion engine and a regular radiator. The latter in turn heats the air, the warm stream of which is directed to the salon. That is, the warm energy is directed not only to the cooling system, but also to the inside of the car. In the case of electrical devices, the heater is heated, while most of the energy comes from a battery or a constant source of 220 volts, in simple words - a stationary outlet that is available in almost every garage.

How quickly does this process take place?

Many car enthusiasts ask the question: "How long will this whole heating process last?" Depending on the model of the pre-heater and the temperature conditions of the environment, it takes 5 to 15 minutes to heat the coolant together with the interior. At the same time, a maximum of how much this device can consume is 400-500 milliliters of fuel per hour. Electric heaters of antifreeze, connected to the car battery, consume up to 35 watts of energy for the same period of time.

Functionality

Now many devices are equipped with a GSM-control system, individual models perceive commands through smartphones, which is an indisputable plus in favor of convenience when using this equipment. In addition, the preheater can be equipped with a mini-timer that allows you to set a specific warm-up time at any time via the remote control.

Manufacturers

The most popular tosol heaters are the Webasto and Eberspacher systems, which are currently installed on almost all modern models of heavy trucks (the so-called "European Seven" - Scania, Volvo, MAN, DAF, and so on). Another worth noting is the domestic equipment "Leader" and foreign DEFA and Kim Hotstart, which can also be installed on cars and SUVs.

Where is the installation of the antifreeze heater?

This unit is mounted in the engine compartment. Where exactly it is located under the hood, you can not name it exactly, as on all cars the connection of the tosola heater takes place in different ways and in different places. Often, most modern machines already have a special niche for this device.

How to connect the antifreeze heater?

Let's note at once, that on some models of pre-heater heaters the stages of installation can differ slightly from those which we will outline in the instruction below. Therefore, in order to install this system as soon as possible, pay attention to the instruction that is supplied by the manufacturer to each device of this type.

For the successful installation of the heater you will need about 1.5 hours of free time and several liters of new antifreeze, as we must drain the old one.

So, how to install the antifreeze heater? To begin with, we need to drive the car back to the pit and drain, as we already noted above, the old antifreeze. After the antifreeze in the system is not left, you can safely proceed to install the pre-heater. In this case, it is necessary to thoroughly wash the channels of this system. This can be done with the usual hot water.

Now we need to check if the coolant drain valve is installed on the car. If this is not the case, you need to look in the engine compartment for a traffic jam that is on the engine itself, namely, on the block. We need to unscrew and remove the union. The latter will fit its diameter to the hose, and the second side will have a thread to be easy to install.

Now it is necessary to take the union and insert it into the formed hole of the engine. However, it can not be ruled out that pads can get pinched. To avoid this, use a heat-resistant silicone sealant during the work . If your car already has a special drain valve, then you need to unscrew it and then do all of the above in the same way.

Replace the preheater and carefully secure it in place. To do this, connect the input of the device to the fence point. The very same connection is made with a hose and secured with clamps.

At the next stage we have to connect the engine to this device. It must be connected in such a way that the outlet is integrated at the point where the hose ruptures. In addition, you can use one of the top points of ICE. Then connect the tee and fix it with a sealant. In addition, you can apply the same clamps. The hose, which you will lay to the tee from the heater, should not have bends, that is, it is laid in the shortest possible way. Remember that if there are bends in the tube, cracks may occur, which will lead to poor heat supply. Next, you need to fix the hose in the connected device, and install the other side in the engine.

Functionality check

Now it is necessary to fill the cooling system with a new antifreeze and start the engine. Leave it in the working state for about 10 minutes (let it work At idle). This is necessary in order to ensure a good circulation of the liquid. Stop the engine and connect the heater to the mains. To make sure it is working, touch the top of the hand with your hand. If you feel warm, then you did everything right. At this stage, the question of how to install the antifreeze heater, can be considered closed. By the way, the service for such work requires up to 500 US dollars, so for 1.5 hours we saved a fairly substantial amount.

How much does the engine antifreeze heater cost?

The cost of the preheater system ranges from 700 to 1100 dollars, depending on the type and brand of the manufacturer. As a rule, domestic devices are the cheapest on the market and no less reliable than imported ones.
