GVLV: technical characteristics. Moisture-resistant gypsum-fiber sheets: application

The modern market of building materials is constantly replenished with various novelties, which, due to their characteristics and qualities, are beginning to enjoy increased demand among consumers. Such innovations include gypsum fiber, or gypsum fiber sheet.

What is GVLV?

Moisture-resistant gypsum fiber is a finishing material that has the form of a rectangular sheet and is made on the basis of gypsum and loose cellulose for reinforcement, as well as various technical additives. In appearance and structure, this material is similar to plasterboard, but it has many advantages. In more detail, we will describe what a gypsum-fiber sheet is. First you need to understand what a loose cellulose is. This fiber is particularly strong. It is this quality that is widely used in the production of building materials. With the help of special substances, plant cellulose is processed in a certain way, due to which uniform distribution of cellulose fiber is provided throughout the surface. Adding the technical reagents, the result is a finishing material that has additional qualities, such as increased fire safety and high moisture resistance.

Application area

Moisture-resistant gypsum-fiber sheet is used for finishing residential, industrial, public, administrative buildings and premises. This material, that is, GVLV, whose technical characteristics will be described below, is applied:

1. For covering attics, attics, cellars. In these cases, the premises must necessarily be equipped with a ventilation system.

2. To arrange a dry screed. The installation of moisture-resistant gypsum fiber is an alternative to the laborious process of manufacturing a cement screed in the classical version, but this method is less time-consuming and rather heavy.

3. For finishing bathrooms, kitchens, waiting rooms, utility rooms. Since in these places is unstable and most often an increased level of humidity, then use as a finish gipsovoloknisty sheet (moisture resistant) is most appropriate. In order to further protect the sheets from the negative effects of the liquid, their surface is treated with hydrophobic mixtures, and as a decorative finish, a moisture-resistant material can be used.

4. For covering ceilings and walls of garages and outbuildings, for unheated rooms, where there is a possibility of freezing of the walls.

5. For repair work and the primary construction of gyms, courts and training facilities, children's playrooms. Due to such a property as strength, a gypsum-fiber sheet is able to withstand a high point load, retaining its original appearance when heavy objects, for example, a sports projectile hit.

6. For finishing the shafts of elevators (passenger and cargo), for plating boiler rooms and panel rooms. During the appearance of fire, the finishing material does not collapse for a long time and restrains the spread of the flame.

GVLV: technical specifications

Moisture-resistant gypsum-fiber sheet has the following technical qualities:

- high level of ecological compatibility;

- excellent characteristics in terms of heat and sound insulation;

- resistance to fire (GVLV does not ignite);

- high strength and durability, the ability to use it in buildings with complex configurations;

- Ease of installation, use of gypsum fiber reduces labor costs and construction time;

- GVLV, whose technical characteristics we are now studying, is quite flexible material, and this makes it possible to expand the range of its application;

- a sufficiently high level of hygroscopicity of the material that is able to regulate the humidity in the room, that is, with excess moisture, it absorbs it, with a lack - it secures;

- minimization of waste (with the condition that the preliminary calculation of the building material was carried out), which saves on costs.

The main technical aspects of gypsum fiber

In the production of gypsum fiber, the dimensions of the sheet (its width) depend on the application. In general, GVLV is produced by a thickness of 10 to 12 mm. The size of the finished product is 2500x1200 mm. Depending on the thickness, the weight of GVLV ranges from 39 to 42 kg. These dimensions are universal and suitable for almost all types of finishing and construction work. In addition to these sizes, plasterboard sheets are 14, 16, 19 mm thick. The length of the sheet can be 2000, 2700, 3000, 3600 mm, and the width - 600 mm.

Sheets are produced in two types:

- with rebated edge (for walls, ceiling);

- with a straight (for the floor).

Selection of moisture resistant gypsum fiber boards

When choosing a gypsum fiber as a finishing material, first of all it is necessary to pay attention to the manufacturer. Many recommend purchasing moisture-proof GVLV from domestic companies, thereby saving on financial means. When buying this building material, you should pay attention to the presence of marking and certificates of conformity. Next, you need to visually inspect the sheets - their surface should be smooth, without visible damage. In addition, bulges, chips, cracks and various depressions are not allowed. If possible, it is necessary to determine the conditions under which the material was stored. If the sheets were located in rooms with a high level of humidity, then in the future it can negatively affect its properties.

Gypsum fiber sheet for flooring

GVLV is used for laying both on wooden and reinforced concrete bases. If there is good ventilation, it is mounted on a concrete screed. For work it is recommended to use slabs of small size - 12 mm thick. Installation is carried out in the following order:

1. Along the perimeter of the room the edge band is fixed, a layer of polyethylene film is deposited.

2. Cover the claydite or put a thick insulation. It is rammed and leveled.

3. Begin to lay a gypsum fiber GLVV from the corner.

4. The first layer of plates is covered with PVA glue or mastic. Then the second layer of gypsum fiber is laid.

5. With the help of screws the layers are pulled together.

6. Finally, the surface of the floor is primed, then the finishing coat, for example, linoleum, is mounted.

Finishing finishes

Despite the fact that the GVLV technical characteristics are sufficiently high, the surfaces lined with this material must be carefully processed:

1. Before applying the finishing coatings, it is necessary to prime the gypsum-fiber sheets.

2. The surface covered with gypsum fiber, on which the wallpaper is to be glued, must be treated with glue on a methylcellulose base.

3. It is allowed to use paints: dispersion of artificial materials, oil, varnish, epoxy and others.

4. It is possible to use structural gypsum plasters with artificial resin substitutes.

5. It is undesirable to buy paints based on liquid glass, silicates, lime, and also alkaline.

Summarizing, we can conclude that the sheet gipsovoloknisty GVLV - this is a new stage in the development of building materials. It does not have the drawbacks that are inherent in drywall. During the production of gypsum fiber, a number of improvements were made, which qualitatively improved the properties of the material.
