Grow sticks of roses. Planting and care

It is difficult to imagine a flowering garden without this beauty. And the truth is, what can be the best ornament for a farmstead than a climbing rose? Planting and caring for them is the topic of the article.

They blossom before other roses, at the very beginning of spring, and turn into a large bouquet a landing site, whether it's a cozy gazebo, a porch of a house, a neighboring fence or ordinary-looking farm buildings. This is their purpose - to ennoble the space. For this they are loved by flower growers, owners of private houses and country plots. And, of course, for the lush, simply luxurious flowering.

How and when to plant the climbing roses? Planting and caring for them have some differences from the ways of growing other varieties of roses. A common requirement is the condition of the soil: it must be fertile, of a mixed type, not very heavy and not sandy. The most preferable loam, but without stagnant water. The roots of any variety when planted slightly shorter secateurs, dipped in a liquid clay solution - so they are better protected from the harmful effects of new soil. It is possible to try to propagate roses by cuttings: in June-July, cut a lignified healthy stem, put it under a glass jar so that there are three or four kidneys on the surface. Soon, leaves will appear, but they are best removed, they only prevent rooting.

And then - about the peculiarities of growing, which are demanded by climbing roses. Planting and caring for them is not so difficult. Firstly, they do not need a lot of space, to place a bush enough strips of ground in half a meter, and the entire ground part goes along the supports, walls, fences. The bush can be formed in accordance with their wishes. If the owner's task is to decorate the gazebo on the site, it is not just feasible, it gives great pleasure. After all, these flexible stems go wherever you lead them! In addition, their length can reach three to five meters. So it will not be difficult to completely encircle the arbor with pink branches, and then sit among this splendor and enjoy life.

If you need to disguise any structures on the site, for example, a barn, a toilet, an ugly wall or an uninteresting fence, a climbing rose comes to the rescue. In the winter Its stems remain the same hedge, you only need to remove dry leaves and buds, slightly shorten the branches. But in the middle zone of Russia, where winters are severe enough, the rose is accepted to be lowered and wrapped. In the southern regions, this is not practiced at all. Seasonal withdrawal in the spring is reduced to removing dried and frozen (at this time, too, there are frosts) branches, loosening and fertilizing the soil. Spring from the root begins rapid growth of new shoots, and they allow you to constantly update the bush - remove the old stems, leaving the new shoots the healthiest and directing them at their discretion. You can not allow the thickening of the bush - it will be at the expense of the development and flowering of this beauty.

Some afflicted with climbing roses: planting and care provide a lush blossom, but only for a month. There are, however, varieties with repeated flowering, which are derived by long-term breeding experiments. Very popular with gardeners and designers is the rose "Super Dorothy" with dark pink dense brushes. It blossoms later than other varieties, but flowering waves and continues almost to the cold. There is a group of half-lobed roses, which are also bred by crossing with repairing varieties and have a long flowering period - Bonanza, Dortmund, Colette and others. They have larger flowers, they are more resistant to diseases. Of the varieties of domestic selection, the chic rose "Sympatia" is very popular, which also features abundant and long flowering (almost throughout the summer season), as well as large bright flowers. Unlike other varieties of climbing roses that do not differ in pronounced smell, "Sympathy" has a bright pink flavor.

One can not ignore another problem: how to protect roses from pests. A real scourge for culture are aphids and powdery mildew. No matter how much it would be desirable to avoid it, roses should be sprayed with chemical preparations, and not once. The colonies of aphids literally degrade the stems so that it is unpleasant to touch them. If you want to do without harmless means of protection, you can recommend a soapy solution: 200-300 grams of laundry soap to plan and dissolve in a bucket of hot water, cool and use for spraying.

Ask yourself, what would you like to do all your life to feel happy? Of course, growing roses!
