Climbing roses - garden decoration

More and more popular are climbing roses, numbering dozens of different varieties. Before you plant this beautiful flowering plant, you need to know in detail about its agricultural technology.

These roses are brought out by crossing roses of multiflorous and clinging forms of various garden groups. Shrub is used to decorate arches, walls, pergolas, arbors, to create weeping stems. Scrofulous roses are preferable to grow in areas where there is a relatively mild climate and there is no need to shelter them for the winter. In the northern latitudes, they will freeze every winter, so they should be carefully covered in autumn. In more severe climatic conditions, it is difficult to cultivate them on a large scale, since in the winter their annual shoots freeze to the soil.

This type of roses is divided into several groups. The first group is called "real climbing roses". It includes plants with flexible, long creeping shoots, which need a strong support. Ancestor of these plants are multi-flowered roses, the birthplace of which are China, Japan, Korea. These roses are characterized by rapid growth of shoots, which during the season can grow up to 3-4 m in length. Flowers are simple, double and dense, with a diameter of 2-5 cm. They are collected in large inflorescences and come in different colors. Flowers have a weak flavor. Plants best tolerate wintering under light cover.

Large-flowered roses were excreted by crossing stiff roses with floribunda and tea-hybrid. They have hard shoots that grow to 3 m. These roses bloom in large flowers, having a diameter of up to 10 cm, collected in small inflorescences.

The cordless roses of Cordes were excavated by crossing rugoza and Vihura roses with various varieties of different garden groups. Their shoots grow to 2 m in length. Flowers are very large, terry and non-marble, with a smell and without it, are collected with small inflorescences. These roses are winter-hardy, bloom before the first frosts, are resistant to diseases.

Climings were obtained as a result of mutations in the buds of bush forms (tea-hybrid, tea, polyanthus, gradinflora, floribunda, miniature).

Climbing roses, whose care is reduced to the correct planting, pruning, irrigation and fertilizer, should not be planted close to each other, since in winter they must be laid on the ground and insulated. These bushes do not like stagnation of water, they prefer fertile loamy soils. The best fertilizer for climbing roses is the overgrown cow dung.

Pits are prepared for planting in size 50x50 cm. Mix the fertile soil, a humus bucket, a bucket of sand and 3 tbsp. Spoons of superphosphate. All carefully mixed, forming a small hill at the bottom of the pit. It is best to plant the seedlings in early spring, until the buds are blooming. The stems of the seedlings are cut into 30 cm (5-6 buds) and the long roots are cut. The seedlings are disinfected in a weak solution of copper sulfate, and the roots are dipped in liquid clay. Seedling put on the hill, the roots are evenly distributed and covered with prepared soil with humus, compact the earth and water abundantly.

In summer the bushes are watered, regularly fed, the soil is loosened and weeded. In September, pruning weak unvaried branches, pruning the ground in October-November, and shoots are removed from the support and put on the ground. At the first signs of cooling, shoots are covered with lapnik pine or spruce and covered with roofing material. The snow falls on the shelter.

Roses are stitched, care for which was done properly, usually normally winter under good shelter. After the snow melts, the shelter is removed closer to the evening (to prevent sunburn). A few days of shoots need to be shaded. Once they are stronger, they are tied to the supports. The frozen tips of the branches are cut to a living kidney.
