Biography

Fedor Klimov was born in September 1990 in Leningrad. The mother of the future Olympic champion worked as a coach at the local school of figure skating, so it's no surprise that from the age of four the boy began to study in this section too.

Until the age of 16, Klimov was a solitary, and successfully performing at various children's and youth competitions. In addition to victories in the Cup of Russia, I was in the national team (season 2007/2008).

In parallel with training and competitions, the young figure skater managed to study well in school, which he graduated with a silver medal.

Sports career

Since 2007, Fedor Klimov is a skater performing in pair skating. First, his partner was Maria Chaschina, but this duo did not achieve great results. Then Klimov rode along with Alexandra Malakhova. They twice became winners at the Cup of Russia.

In February 2009, Ksenia Stolbova became Klimov's new partner, and this duo soon became one of the strongest in the world figure skating. Already in the first joint season, they win in the junior championship of Russia and take third place at the youth world championship.

But the couple did not intend to stop there. In 2010 the duo Klimov / Stolbova again wins the Junior National Championship, as well as two Grand Prix stages. At the youth world championship they became the second.

2011 brought new skaters to the skaters. Thanks to the refusal of the Smirnov / Kawaguchi couple to perform at the European Championships, Fedor Klimov and his partner received the right to represent their country at an adult level at this tournament. The debut was more than successful - the duo won bronze medals of the continental championship. In addition, the pair became the second in the Russian championship.

Pre-Olympic season Fedor Klimov and Ksenia Stolbova started with a new coach - Nina Moser. Preparation for home games was held in a strengthened mode, because they had high hopes for their pair.

Triumphal home Olympics

At the home Olympics in Sochi, the couple Fyodor Klimov / Xenia Stolbova did not disappoint all Russian fans. They perfectly rolled back the free program, showing the best result among all participants. This allowed them to add 10 points to the coin box of the Russian team, which eventually became the winner of the Olympics in team competitions. In the individual competition, the pair won silver medals.

After the Olympics, the star duo did not slow down. They invited a new director Nikolai Morozov, who helped Klimov and Stolbova to make their numbers more spectacular and technically complex.

Season skaters started very successfully. After two wins in the Grand Prix series, the Stolbov / Klimov pair became the two-time winner of the Russian championship.

The 2015/2016 season started with a very complicated program by technical standards. Klimov and Stolbova are the first pair in the world to perform the 3-3-2 cascade. In the final part of the Grand Prix he was awarded a score of 154.6, which only slightly did not reach the world record set by the duet of figure skaters Trankov / Volosozhar.

Unfortunately, Klimov's injury did not allow the couple to perform at the European Championships. The recovery dragged on for four months, but in April 2016 at the World Championships in Boston the pair again came out Xenia Stolbova / Fedor Klimov.

Personal life

If the sports career of the Russian figure skater is always in the public eye, then little is known about the personal life of Fedor Klimov.
