Later, he also got into the camera lenses, covering the back of Vladimir Putin.

Moving to St. Petersburg

In 1991, Zolotov, then a modest FSO officer, was sent from the capital to St. Petersburg. Here he was to protect A. Sobchak. The mayor's family, his wife Lyudmila Narusova and her 10-year-old daughter Xenia, also needed protection. However, state protection was not put to them. That is why in 1992, Zolotov decided to contact Baltik-Export. This security firm was led by Roman Tselov.

In 1994, a new contract was concluded with Tselov. The mayor's office invited him to protect public order in the places where the vice mayor of the Northern capital, Vladimir Putin, stayed.

Getting to know the future president

Zolotov closely recognized Putin in the 90s. The future president and Zolotov made friends against the background of the general interest of judo, and for many years they remained sparring partners on tatami.

An interesting fact is that Zolotov, like Putin, still does not leave training. Until recently, the general even led Syama Kyokushinkai on karate-do.

Work in commercial structures

After Sobchak lost the election in 1996, which was supposed to give him the post of mayor of St. Petersburg, Zolotov had to resign from the FSO. At his invitation, Victor Zolotov left St. Petersburg and returned to Moscow. His favorite car Saab, he was replaced by a government BMW, taking the post of head of the Security Service of the Russian Prime Minister.

In 2000, Colonel Zolotov was appointed head of the Security Service of the newly elected president, Putin.

Characteristics of the faithful guard

Hardly anyone will doubt that the one who is responsible for the safety of the president is a person who is fully trusted. And this person became Zolotov. The head of Putin's guard, according to people who know Viktor Vasilyevich, perfectly performed his duties. This is a guard, loyal to his boss, and hard against others. And this is confirmed by the fact that he retained his post of Zolotov even under President Dmitry Medvedev, while simultaneously working as a security and prime minister.

At a time when Viktor Vasilievich was the direct guard of Putin, he answered literally for every minute of his life. He himself made the selection of personnel and organized the process of nutrition. Putin trusted Zolotov and the management of his personal financial affairs. Under the supervision of the faithful guard, the construction of the presidential residence in Gelendzhik was underway. Zolotov personally came to the site and gave specific instructions on the arrangement of communication and protection.

Viktor Vasilievich was jokingly called Generalissimo because of the frequency of getting the next stars on shoulder straps. Already in 2006 he had a high rank - Colonel-General. Victor Zolotov received this title due to his boundless devotion to the president.

Confrontation

In 2007, Col. Gen. Viktor Zolotov became a participant in a kind of war of the siloviki. The opposing sides in it were Viktor Cherkesov (head of the FSKN) and Nikolai Patrushev (director of the FSB), as well as Alexander Bastrykin (head of the Investigative Committee) and Igor Ivanov (Secretary of the Security Council). At that time, the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) was engaged in a case involving the withdrawal of Russian security agents of funds that passed through a chain of Russian and foreign banks.

Operational data was collected thanks to video and photographic observations, wiretapping of telephones, etc. The SC and the FSB did not want to put up with this. They responded by arrests of employees in the FSKN state.

What role has played in this confrontation of the Golds? He took the side of Cherkesov, who, despite the support, lost the fight. Today the former chief of the FSKN is a modest deputy from the Communist Party, and Viktor Zolotov still holds a high state.

New appointments

In September 2013, internal troops learned about Viktor Vasilyevich. Zolotov was appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is not surprising that this job was entrusted to such a responsible and experienced person.

The General of the Zolotov internal troops led on 12/05/2014. Then he became the first deputy. Minister of Internal Affairs. In his submission there were 220 thousand people wearing shoulder straps. In addition, internal troops are all special forces of Russia, which are part of the Interior Ministry. And this is 25-30 thousand specially trained soldiers.

According to some sources, General Zolotov headed the internal troops only in order to subsequently move to a higher step. Is it really? Is the former security guard of Putin Zolotov the Minister of the Interior? Will he succeed in this post Kolokoltsev? All the above assumptions have not been officially confirmed. Personnel was represented only by Glavkom Zolotov. The Minister of Internal Affairs at the same time described him as an officer with an outstanding biography and high moral qualities.

11/10/2015 Zolotov (RF) received the next military rank - army general. It was appropriated to him in accordance with the decree of the Russian President V.V. Putin.

5.04.2016 the general became the director of the federal service of the troops of the national guard of the Russian Federation and the commander-in-chief of these troops. The president created a new security structure for his loyal guard. Today, in terms of its status, Zolotov is a minister. He is also a permanent member of the Security Council of Russia.

Responsible post

The National Guard, which was headed by Zolotov, was established on the basis of internal troops that are part of the Interior Ministry. According to the explanations of the Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the newly formed structure is directly subordinated to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief V.V. Putin.

What is the main purpose of the Russian National Guard? Its main goal is to maintain public order, combat extremism and terrorism. In addition, the structure headed by Zolotov should take part in the defense of the territorial integrity of the country, guard special cargoes and especially important objects. The task of the personnel of the National Guard is to assist the FSB at the border.

The President also entrusted General Zolotov with duties to monitor compliance with legislation in the field of private companies' security activities and arms turnover.

Thus, the most important task of the National Guard is to fight organized crime. Such a service will necessarily need an operational component. And it is in the internal troops. This is internal intelligence.

General Zolotov has a tremendous amount of work to do. He needs to centralize the activities of several disparate units that are part of the Interior Ministry. This is a responsible task with which an experienced and strong person will cope without fail.

Who will serve in the National Guard? In this structure, the internal troops of Russia are being transformed. In the guards will be special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And these are OMON and SOBR, as well as extra-departmental security and the Center, which includes aviation and operational response forces. As part of the National Guard there will be other special units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the FSUE "Okhrana".

It is noteworthy that the new power structure is universal. To create it, you do not need to increase the number of staff and apparatus. In addition, all the training grounds and bases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be subordinated to the National Guard. Thus, the budget will incur minimal costs.

Awards

For the entire period of service Zolotov was awarded the following orders:

- "Friendship and Courage";
- "For Services to the Fatherland" (3rd and 4th degree);
- "For military merit";

He also has a memorable patriarchal sign "700 anniversary of Sergius of Radonezh."
Among the awards of Zolotov there is also a very rare medal. It is called "Defender of Free Russia". The medal has the inscription "August 21, 1991".
