In 1996, the flag of the country was officially adopted. The width of the flag is 2 times shorter than its length. The canvas has a rectangular shape, on which are 3 strips. The upper band is dark green, the middle is dark yellow, and the lower one is bright red. In the middle of the flag is the emblem of the country - a blue circle with the emblem of the state. The emblem is made in yellow and has the appearance of a five-pointed star, from which the rays of the sun diverge. The choice of colors speaks of the unbreakable unity of the peoples of the country and the desire for peace. The color scheme of the flag itself speaks about the heroism of the people (red color), development (green color) and hope for justice (yellow color).

History of the flag of Ethiopia

In the XIX century the country of Ethiopia began to fight for its own centralization and independence. At the same time, national symbols began to appear, and in 1897 the modern flag of Ethiopia was raised for the first time, as a symbol of victory over the army of Italy, which occupied the Tigris. Ethiopia was also able to stop the British Empire's offensive. Unfortunately, Italy did not abandon attempts to capture Ethiopia, one of which was crowned with success. But in 1941 England liberated the state, and the flag of Ethiopia has since been decorated with a lion in a golden crown. Conflicts did not cease to shake the "black continent", which was not spared and Ethiopia. Therefore, the arms often replaced each other. In 1975, a flying bird was put on a flag against the background of the sun. A disk of blue color framed the green branches woven into a wreath. Soon the country came to the period of "red terror" and the symbolism changed - there were sun rays and a five-pointed star. In 1991, the pro-communist regime was overthrown, and the government returned to the previous version of the tricolor.
