Proper ventilation in the sauna with your own hands

Ventilation in the sauna is a system that requires careful organization in the arrangement. It is one of the most difficult. If you correctly approach this issue, you can protect a person from carbon monoxide when heating the stove, ensure a comfortable stay inside, and also guarantee economical fuel consumption. If there is a ventilation system, the air flows are distributed evenly, and the walls of the wooden structure are protected from rotting and waterlogging.

Features of the arrangement of the ventilation system

Ventilation in the sauna can be supply-exhaust, or rather, mixed. At the same time, both exhaust ventilation and air flow are organized. To do this, there must be inlet inflow holes, which are also called air vents. Through them, fresh air enters, and if necessary, an additional ventilation pipe with a fan can be installed.

Air can flow through semi-open doors, as well as windows. The system assumes the need for exit exhaust holes. Through them, the heated air leaves the room or through the ash furnace. This hole, which is located below the furnace and is adapted to improve traction. Supply and exhaust openings can be located in different ways, but the most effective way is the principle that they are located in the lower part of the room. They should be placed closer to the heater, in this case the air will be heated faster.

Nuances of works

The exhaust holes can be located on the opposite side of the supply air. They can be in two places, one of them is located above the other. Thanks to this, it is possible to better control the flow of air. If more intensive thrust is required, then the exhaust hole should be located higher. Otherwise, the thrust will be weaker, thus it is necessary to additionally use a vent pipe. Ventilation in the sauna can be controlled. To do this, use special doors or flaps, which are installed on the exhaust holes. Whatever it was, the air inside should completely laugh once every 2.5 hours.

Technology of arrangement of the ventilation system in the case of a fire in an adjacent room

Ventilation in the sauna can be arranged when the oven is bricked, and the structure itself is made of metal. Between the outer walls of the product and the shirt, a space of 5 cm is arranged. When the tube is withdrawn to an adjacent room by means of a furnace tunnel, this option has many advantages, which are expressed in:

  • Absence of garbage;
  • The possibility of installing a heat-resistant glass in the door of the furnace;
  • There is no need to open the doors to the steam room once again.

Such a device for ventilation in the sauna assumes the installation of a furnace tunnel with brick. The basaltic cotton wool is laid in the gap, since deformation and destruction of the masonry or tunnel is possible during expansion. Next, proceed to the intake holes, while using one of the two methods, the first of which involves carrying out the ventilation channel under the dome from the street, while the second involves the arrangement of the ventilation duct above the floor.

In the first case, a channel is used whose diameter is 120% of the diameter of the chimney. This node is displayed at the pre-furnace metal sheet, which protects the floor from fire, if the coals fall out of the furnace. From the outside and from the inside, the duct is closed by ventilation grilles.

When the ventilation system in the sauna is equipped according to the second technology, the technique will differ only in the location of the ventilation duct. The rest of the site is taken from the street and displayed in the same place.

Recommendations of a specialist

The next step is to make a hood, which is located on the opposite wall, it should go diagonally from the supply holes. Vertically, you need to install a vent box 30 cm above the floor. Under the ceiling through the wall, it should be taken out to the street, and the box itself should be sewed with a lining.

For reference

If you are thinking about how to properly make ventilation in the sauna, you should remember that the area of the exhaust vent should be equal to the area of the supply air. Otherwise, traction may form, and the amount of fresh air due to this will be reduced.

Arrangement of the ventilation system, when the furnace is inside the steam room

In this case, you can act on one of two technologies. The first one allows to solve the problem automatically, if there is an oven in the steam room, and the air enters the ash-pit. Fresh streams will penetrate through the open door, you only need to leave a 5-mm gap. This method is suitable, if the fire is kept constantly, which ensures the operation of the ashtray.

Before making ventilation in the sauna, it is necessary to determine if there is a chimney inside. This method is also suitable in the case when the sauna operates at the expense of a short-time furnace. In this case, it is necessary to equip more perfect ventilation, the method of creation of which will be described below. At the first stage, a podium is created to install the furnace. This will lead to the construction of the box. To do this, lay three rows of bricks on the edge of the wall. Doing work is necessary in the place where the air intake openings are located.

The first row is placed near the wall, the second row goes along the edge, while the third row is on the center. Masonry should have a height of 24 cm, bring it to the brick wall. Next, you need to equip the overlap with a brick. The last pair of products is not installed in the place where the furnace will be located. It is required that it is blown from the box.

Methods of work

Ventilation in the sauna, bathhouse is arranged according to the same principle. At the next stage it is necessary to close the end, and then to do the second box. In its end part is installed a basement furnace door, under which something should be put, otherwise it will rub against the floor. The first box should look up, the second - in the steam room. On the wall adjacent to the rest room, the second canal for doors is made at the level where the stone masonry passes. Up to the top of the brick shirt, the doors should not extend 12 cm. If necessary, they can be opened to warm the adjacent room.

The correct ventilation of the sauna at the next stage implies the need to install the oven on the podium. You can place it on metal plates or corners to distribute the load. The furnace should be bricked, leaving a hole for the fuel channel. Between the oven and the brick, a gap of 2 cm is left, which is then closed with non-combustible material. At the next stage, you can start laying a brick screen, in which you should make two gate valves in the form of doors. Exhaust ventilation in the bath, where the folder is located outside the steam room, is arranged according to the same principle.

Features of the arrangement of the ventilation system by means of blowing

Ventilation in the sauna with their own hands can be fully equipped with any home masters. However, you must follow certain rules. They say that the exhaust hole can be placed under the ceiling, giving it dimensions of 15-20 cm. You can make it round or square.

The hood can be closed by a sliding flap or a removable plug, with which you can change the degree of air exchange. Ventilation holes should not be located opposite each other. In this case, fresh air will immediately fly out into the hood. This will eliminate air circulation and cause a draft. Dimensions of the hood must match the dimensions of the supply opening or be larger. If the dimensions deviate to a smaller side, clean air will not flow.

If the outflow of the exhaust air you want to increase, then the exhaust should be more than the supply air. As an alternative solution, we can consider the option that two extractors will fall on one inlet opening. For inflow of fresh air, it is necessary to equip the inflow hole, which is located 0.3 m from the floor surface. You can place it on the same wall as the hood. The inlet opening is closed by the ventilation grill also to ensure that the air flows in trickles rather than a continuous flow.

Conclusion

Natural ventilation, which is most often equiped in a sauna, has many advantages, among them easy installation, cheapness, economy in operation, simple arrangement and reliability. Due to the fact that there are no mechanical devices in such systems, they are almost eternal, do not undergo breakdowns and do not need repairs.

However, it should be noted and the minuses, they are expressed in the dependence of the intensity of ventilation on the difference in temperature in the steam room and on the street. In addition, sometimes smells come from the street, and in winter and autumn cold air reduces the temperature in the steam room, which is accompanied by drafts.
