The armchair-bag is quite a convenient and practical item of home furniture, which saves space. Another of its features is that it can transform and take any shape depending on the position of the person sitting, which is very convenient. That is why many designers began to widely use this option. But, unfortunately, not everyone can afford it, because these seemingly simple chairs are expensive. Which fabric is best to choose?

As we have already found out, we need to sew two bags. For the interior it is best to use a strong fabric, for example, a lining, coarse calico or satin, but suede, leatherette, jeans, velvet, and various furniture fabrics are suitable for the exterior. If funds permit, you can sew several different covers and periodically change them. Thus, the chair-bag will not bother you, and so much more interesting: you can choose the coloring depending on your mood. And one more nuance: if you have a small child, it is best to choose a fabric that will be well washed. After all, in this case, most likely, you will not be immune from spills of juice, drawing with colors, etc.

How to cut?

If you are an experienced seamstress, then the pattern of the bag chair should not lead you into a stupor. But beginners are best to start with simple forms: sausages, padded stools, bananas. When you have everything, you can safely move on to more complex figures: drops and pears. To begin with, of course, it's worth drawing a small pattern on paper and trying to fold it. If everything converges, then you can boldly increase it to real size and transfer it to the fabric.

What thread to use?

Inside the cover, as a rule, there is a filler for the seat-bag, which is under rather strong pressure, so that the seams should be very strong. Cotton threads immediately move aside, only reinforced ones that are able to withstand a high load are suitable here.

What kind of filler for a bag chair is it?

The most common is expanded polystyrene, in other words, styrofoam. Such a filler is absolutely safe, hygienic, does not absorb moisture, and it never gets pincers and different bacteria. Styrofoam keeps the heat very well, so this chair certainly will not be cold. Filler for the seat-bag can be bought in supermarkets, construction companies and furniture companies. Pay special attention to the size of the balls: they should be 4-5 mm in diameter.

A few recommendations

In the finished bag chair, the filler should be covered only 2/3. Otherwise, you will not get the desired plasticity and lightness. Styrofoam is highly electrified, so you may have some difficulties in filling the product. To help come the usual plastic bottle, or rather, its upper part (it will need to be cut off). The package with filler is sealed, you will only have to make a small incision on it. Now glue the upper part of the bottle to the opened place of packing. Thus, we have a package "with a neck" from which it is easy and easy to fill the required amount of filler.
