Drainpipes for protection against natural moisture

Modern drainpipes are able not only to protect the foundation and walls from the negative effects of moisture, but also to give a finished and aesthetic appearance to any structure. They, first of all, are designed to protect the house from premature aging and destruction, thus preserving the interior of the home. However, not all types of roofs need a drainage system. In some cases, it is not installed at all. There is no need to install downpipes on simple single-pitched roofs, where the drainage can be carried out by removing the rear cornice. This method allows you to protect the facade walls, as well as ensure the safety of the foundation.

However, such a system is unorganized, therefore it is used only in small country cottages built without architectural delights. As for solid country cottages with complex roofs, they must necessarily have downspouts. Recently, gutters have become an important part of the roofing system, and therefore are manufactured by various manufacturers. It should be said that cottages with an intricate roof need to solve the problem of drainage of melt and rainwater. The cost of drainage system in this situation can be a considerable amount of money.

Any such organized system includes downspouts, but, besides them, gutters, various knees, tees and joints are also used. For the production of all listed elements, galvanized iron, copper or polyvinyl chloride is used. Currently, plastic drains are very popular, which are not afraid of environmental influences. Their only drawback is that they have relatively low mechanical stability. Usually rectangular or semicircular chutes are purchased. Their dimensions are determined by the slope and the roof area.

The technology of installing all the gutters is approximately the same. It involves fastening the brackets in the first stage. This is usually done with self-tapping screws, with a slope of approximately 2.5 mm per running meter. The plug is versatile, since it can be used from any direction. At the joints and where the gutter pipe is located, rubber seals are compulsorily used. All components are attached to each other by means of connecting latch.

The gutter pipes themselves are connected to the gutters by means of special elements. Their mounts are installed every two meters. As for the removal of the vertical riser, it should be located about twenty centimeters from the ground. Although the installation does not represent anything complicated, some owners, when they install a drainage system with their own hands, make a number of mistakes. Most often, they do not pay enough attention to fixing the brackets, which eventually leads to the fall of individual elements. Also, sometimes the recommended distance is exceeded, because of what sagging occurs.
