Dogma is the truth

Dogma is the basic position of theory, concept or religion, which is accepted without debate, on faith. From a mathematical point of view, any dogma is an axiom, that is, an assertion that does not require proof.

Ancient Greek paradigm

An interesting fact, but in Athens law dogma is a legal category. Speaking modern language, she designated an order, a decree of local or state authorities, as well as an order for any ministry or department. In principle, Athens, with their democracy and popular assemblies, has always adopted doxes - regulatory acts that operate within the framework of the policy and have the status of mandatory for all citizens. An etymological meaning is also interesting: originally dogma is a single opinion. In other words, the Athenian community, taking dogmas from time to time, demonstrated its unity with regard to internal and external challenges.

The Christian paradigm

According to the New Testament, dogma is a population census conducted in the Roman Empire. At the dawn of the Christian era, thus, the original, legal semantics of this word still persisted. However, with the fall of Rome, it turned out that the young Christians were in a kind of politically "empty" space - without the state and power. The only organization that managed to somehow control the situation was the Church. And dogmas smoothly passed into the field of religious law. For a while it became obvious that dogma is the order of the church, that is, the only source of power. A little later, after the design of the first monarchies and the post-imperial empires, dogma became an integral attribute of religious teaching, mainly thanks to the works of Albert the Great and Thomas Aquinas.

On the one hand, we are talking about normative standards of behavior that have been planted since childhood and have a clear solidarity with a particular social environment. Thus, the regulative function of dogma as a legal imperative persists. On the other hand, morality is one of the constructors of values, which, in theory, are broader concepts than legal postulates. Therefore, the inculcated images of "good" and "bad" are not absolute. They change over time and depending on the change of life scenery. The picture of the world, represented in youth, is completely different than in mature and, especially, senile years. The set of moral developments, respectively, also changes. What used to be dogma is sometimes a delusion. However, although the variable evaluative judgments and recolor life scenery, but in fact remain regulators, to which you constantly listen. If you want, of course ...

The dogma of law

In the legal literature this term is understood as the primary legal structures - separate norms, rights, obligations; Single sources of law (laws, orders); The actions of actors aimed at implementing the original legal obligations, as well as the official interpretation of such actions. Simply put, sources of law (sections of law) are dogmatic by definition, and in this sense have intrinsic legitimacy.
