Diet after appendicitis

Appendicitis is a common disease in which the process of the cecum is removed (appendix). It occurs very often and is treated surgically. This disease affects people of all ages, but most often appendicitis is manifested in persons 10-30 years old. The functions of the appendix in the human body have not been studied to the end.

Appendicitis appears as a consequence of blockage and subsequent inflammation in the appendix. Only surgical intervention and further treatment are helpful, but an obligatory diet after appendicitis is also important, as it is important for a patient to know how to eat properly. Such a diet medical workers are called "zero".

Usually the diet is observed for 3-7 days after the operation, it all depends on the speed with which the patient is on the mend, in some cases it can be prolonged by the observing physician. The question "What can you eat after appendicitis?" Should also be answered by your doctor.

It should be noted that all food should be liquid or jelly, in no case do not eat solid food, since pieces of undigested food can easily damage or even break the superimposed seam. In addition, in the first week after the operation, milk and fatty dairy products, including processed cheeses, should be excluded from the diet. Take food should be in small quantities, but often (approximately every 2-3 hours). Optimal is six meals a meal. All food should be cooked or stewed, you can cook for a couple. Fry and bake is not recommended.

Let's consider two variants of diets in the first days after the operation.

Diet after appendicitis №1.

- low-fat chicken broth (in the first couple of days without bread);

- fruit or berry jelly with a small amount of sugar;

- dog rose tea.

Diet after appendicitis №2.

- rice broth (also without bread in the first 2 days after the operation);

- fruit or berry jelly;

- regular tea without lemon.

In addition, each diet after appendicitis allows the intake of natural juices diluted with water (apple and orange juices should be excluded, since they contain a lot of organic acids, which can lead to irritation of the scar on the intestinal wall). Perfectly suits apricot, peach, pumpkin juice. Tomato juice is also desirable to avoid.

When the patient gradually begins to recover, the diet can safely include liquid porridge on the water: rice, oats, wheat and buckwheat. Rice, buckwheat and wheat grinding is better before grinding in a coffee grinder. Then gradually go to stewed vegetables, fish (necessarily sea, this can be lean herring, flounder and sea bass) and classic soups (with potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, zucchini, pepper, salt in limited quantities). Fish soup, pea soup and borsch from the diet are excluded. Sauces such as mayonnaise and tomato ketchup are also unacceptable. In the second week after the operation, it is already possible to include low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat kefir, low-fat yogurt and butter. From meat you can eat rabbit meat or low-fat chicken (cooked or stewed, in no case fried).

For a month it is better to exclude sharp, smoked, fatty, salted, fried and peppery dishes, since they can lead to irritation of the seam, which is highly undesirable. In addition, flour and confectionery products are completely excluded: cakes, pastries, sand and puff pastry cookies, buns, bagels, cupcakes, white bread, pancakes and others. If you really want sweet, you can allow honey, dried apricots, prunes, marshmallows, dried figs and figs.

Now you know what you can eat after appendicitis and how best to cook. In any case, it is important to exclude sharp and fried foods. Give preference to boiled food, better soups.

Thus, the diet after appendicitis involves the reception of liquid, spicy food in limited quantities.
