Diamond pencil: features and scope of use

Diamond pencil belongs to the category of ruling tools and has a high level of wear resistance. This device is intended for final grinding of the surface to be treated. It can be used for internal, flat, as well as centreless grinding. A diamond pencil can be equipped with natural or synthetic stones, which are fixed in a metal bundle.

Composition of a diamond pencil

For straightening, a device having a diameter of 8-10 millimeters is usually used. A diamond pencil managed to get the most distribution as a tool designed for these purposes. It contains crystals of diamonds placed in a certain order, which are joined together by a special material. It is made in the form of a special alloy, which has a coefficient of thermal expansion, close to diamonds. This feature allows you not to expose stones to additional deformation when heated.

Diamond pencil for straightening circles: varieties

In general, several types of this device are used. They differ depending on how they contain diamond crystals in the working part, and also what characteristics they possess:

- Type C - diamonds in this case are arranged by a chain;

- type C - stones are placed in layers that can overlap or not overlap;

- Type H - diamonds in this case are not oriented.

In addition, a diamond pencil can belong to different brands, depending on the mass and quantity of stones used in it, as well as on the size of the frame and the insert.

Features of each type

For the production of each type of device, crystals of different weights are used. The diamond pencil for straightening type C is made of high quality stones, weighing 0.03-0.5 carats each. Their sphere of application is the straightening of the circles for centerless shaped and inner, as well as round grinding. A pencil type C is produced in two grades. The first are fine-grained, in them the amount of fine diamond grains is up to 10 in one layer. The second type - low-grained, here on the layer there are 2-5 stones with a caratness of 0,1-0,2. This diamond pencil has increased wear resistance, and it is used to straighten abrasive wheels in the process of fine grinding. Adaptations of type H are made from stones of different quality, sometimes even from chipped and crushed. The sphere of application of such pencils is the editing of grinding wheels of fine-grained structure in operations of centreless and circular grinding, and also as a tool for straightening disc-type, single-thread thread grinding and flat circles for spline and tooth grinding.

Thanks to the adjustment of the circles using diamond pencils, it is possible to obtain a high precision of the working surface, to define the profile profile, which allows much more precise grinding of the working tool, as well as higher productivity.
