Day of Belarusian science is an occasion to recall the role of scientific research in the development of society

Scientific knowledge is important not only for the expansion of mankind's ideas about the world. The results of the work of scientists are used at enterprises, in the agro-industrial complex, medicine, education, other spheres of people's activity. In order to emphasize the importance of scientific achievements for the society, the Day of Belarusian Science was established in the Republic of Belarus.

History

In the Belarusian lands, science was born in the 7th-8th centuries of our era. There actively developed foundry, pottery, blacksmithing, weaving craft. The successful performance of the work depended on how well the master knew the physics and chemistry.

With the spread of Christianity, the centers of development of scientific thought were the temples and monasteries. Here they rewrote books, made annals, arranged libraries. The most famous educators of that time were Efrosinia Polotskaya and Kirilla Turovsky.

In the Renaissance, science and education gradually became secular. An important role in this played book printing. The first printer was Francis Skaryna. The printed book was produced and distributed faster than the handwritten book, therefore, was available to more readers.

In the New and Modern time, Belarusian scientists actively worked in the field of natural sciences and technology. In 1929 the Institute of Belarusian Culture opened in Minsk, later it was transformed into the Academy of Sciences.

In the 1930s, many representatives of the Belarusian intelligentsia became victims of repression. During the war, scientists worked in evacuation. In the postwar years, scientific institutions returned to the republic and continued their research.

The formation of the information society promoted the revision of strategies for the development of science, so in 2005 the High Technologies Park was created.

The culprits of the celebration

For a while to postpone work and cover a festive table on the Day of Belarusian Science (the last Sunday in January), doctors and candidates of sciences, employees of scientific research institutes, teachers, graduate students, undergraduates, participants of student scientific societies have the right.

The National Academy of Sciences is the flagship of the scientific achievements of the republic, where research is carried out in the fields of physics, chemistry, mathematics, biochemistry, materials science, etc. Minsk Research Institute of Instrumentation, the National Institute of Education, and other scientific organizations also work in Belarus. Studies are carried out in the departments of universities, in reserves and zakazniks, hospitals, museums. Therefore, the Day of Belarusian Science is a holiday for many citizens of the republic.

Festive events

To the festive date are confined conferences, seminars, exhibitions, thematic publications in scientific publications. So, in the foyer of the National Security Bureau the exhibition "Achievements of domestic science - production" is constantly working. In 2012, at a solemn meeting of the scientific community demonstrated the results of achievements of technical sciences, and two years later scientific problems were discussed at a press conference held by the State Committee for Science and Technology.

On the Day of Belarusian Science, scientists are addressed by the country's president, deputy heads of the presidential administration, and other officials. Outstanding scientific works are awarded.

Scientific achievements

Scientists of Belarus conduct research in all spheres of human knowledge. Thus, a new generation of lasers was created at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Devices are much smaller than their predecessors and do not harm the eyes.

Cast-iron parts will become much stronger due to the inventions of the Institute of Metal Technology, and with the help of fiber-optic industrial endoscopes (development of the Belarusian-Russian University of Mogilev) diagnostics of hard-to-reach places of units and machines will become more operative and reliable. In the treatment of atherosclerosis, it is planned to use an ultrasound unit created by BNTU specialists.

Also in the country, they study DNA, cultivate emeralds, create new varieties of agricultural plants, revive cultural artifacts (slutsk belts), master space, develop new methods of treating diseases, teaching and educating the younger generation. Therefore, when the Day of Belarusian Science comes again, scientists have something to show for the holiday.

Problems and prospects of the development of science in Belarus

In recent years, the government has largely financed applied research. The problem of creating organizations that unite scientific and production cadres is urgent. The issue of examining the results of research, attracting investment is acute. These and other problems are discussed on the Day of Belarusian Science.

When celebrating a holiday, scientists and leaders talk about painful. Thus, the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of National Security is concerned about the aging of cadres, the unwillingness of young people to engage in science. The reasons for this are small salaries and a loss of prestige in the profession of a research fellow. Many specialists leave to work abroad. The head of state sees the solution of these problems in the reduction of staff and the search for extra-budgetary sources of financing. The day of the Belarusian science and its achievements are the subject of the president's special concern.

The development of the humanities is defined as the development of a scientific basis for normative legal documents and the solution of the problem of strengthening the institution of the family. Based on the results obtained by the humanities, the ideology of the state is being formed. So is the Day of Belarusian Science. Where is the similar holiday outside Belarus?

Science Day in other countries

The tradition of honoring scientists in the post-Soviet space originates in the USSR. In April 1918, a sketch of the plan for scientific and technical work was released from Lenin's pen. Since then, scientists have accepted congratulations on the third Sunday of April.

After the collapse of the USSR in Russia and Ukraine, holiday dates (February 8 and the third Saturday of May) are timed to the founding of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

On an international level, the World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated annually. With such an initiative in 2001, UNESCO took the floor. Fans of the theory of evolution on February 12 celebrate Darwin's Day.

There are also festivals of science, professional holidays of narrow specialists: physicists, chemists, etc. Therefore, it is possible to congratulate domestic and foreign scientists almost every month of the year.
