History of the dish

It is believed that the birthplace of the treat is France, because the word "ragout" can be translated from the language of this country as a "dish" and as an "acute seasoning". In addition, there is also the word "ragouter", meaning "to arouse appetite". There is an opinion that the initial variant of cooking consisted in roasting pieces of meat and beans with mushrooms with the addition of bread crumbs to obtain a thick consistency.

Long ago, residents of countries of Eastern Europe (Hungary), neighboring states of France (Germany), distant India and other territories knew about what a ragout is. At the same time, it can be noted that they were united by the idea of preparing this food in pots, and the name of each people for ragout has its own.

And in Russia during the reign of Peter the Great knew how to prepare a stew from various vegetables with aromatic spices and herbs. He was made in kitchen pots or a cauldron, at the same time a satisfying and tasty treat was obtained.

Meat stew recipe

We offer a recipe for a stew with meat and potatoes in Irish. To do this, you need 0.5 kg of mutton or beef and about 8 potatoes. They need to be cut into cubes about 2 by 2 cm in size and fry in oil, add here two carrots cut into longitudinal small pieces, and half-rings of two onion heads. Do this on medium heat until golden color of the ingredients, adding salt and other spices (pepper, cumin, etc.) to taste. Then you need to fill the vegetables with water, so that the liquid covers the mixture, reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 hour.

What is Irish ragout? In almost ready treat, you need to add a half glass (you can taste) of dark beer or replace it with a port or with a suitable wine for this purpose. Before eating, the dish can be decorated with herbs and finely chopped garlic.

Vegetable dish

What is a vegetable stew? This is a great diet and nutritious dish. It is often cooked on holidays such as Easter, and this table can be decorated on any other day. To do this, you need a pound of potatoes, one piece of carrots and onions, two medium zucchini. All vegetables chop into pieces of about the same size, except onions, which is cut into half rings. Fry all the ingredients in turn in 100 ml of olive oil and put in a suppression tank. Add spices to taste (salt, a mixture of peppers and others), pour a glass of water and cook until ready (about 30 minutes). A ready treat to sprinkle with walnuts and greens.

Stew can be prepared from a wide variety of ingredients, resulting in a variety of results. Nutrition of this dish is indisputable, and the use of vegetables and beans increases the usefulness of "various" treats.
