Begonia: reproduction of various plant species

Begonias are inhabitants of the tropical and subtropical belts. Most species grow in tropical forests, in a humid and warm atmosphere. Some species of begonias grow in mountain regions: for example, in Asia it is the Eastern Himalayas. The largest species diversity of these plants is found in South America, in addition, they are common in Africa and Asia, on the islands of the Indian Ocean. They are presented as both annuals and perennial species, grassy and shrubby.

There are several classifications of species of begonias. They are divided on begonia beautiful flowering and decorative begonia, room and cultivated in the open ground and on the balconies, as well as the structure of the root system - begonias tuberous, with a thickened rhizome or fibrous root system.

Currently, more than a thousand ornamental and hybrid varieties of this plant are known. In most of them, especially in decorative leaves, the leaves have an asymmetric shape and exotic coloring. Flowers in these varieties are usually unremarkable, small in size. As for the beautifully flowering plant species, in particular, one of the most famous, begonia, always flowering, their flowering is so abundant that it eclipses the beauty of the leaves.

Begonia, the reproduction of which is not possible in all species, is mainly propagated by cuttings, as well as leaves and their parts. This method is basic, for example, for begonias Diadem, always flowering, royal, begonius Mason. Types of begonia clavicle, royal, red-leaf, in addition, multiply by dividing the bush into parts. Of the seeds, it is possible to grow Begonia tusk-leaved and red-leafed, metallic, spotted, angular, and also the most popular species cultivated in the open ground and on balconies - tuber begonia. As can be seen, each of the species of these plants has several ways of reproduction and the answers to the question of how to propagate begonia can sound differently.

Begonia always flowering is often used for landscaping of flower beds and balconies. She feels great in the open. This begonia, which can be multiplied in several ways, loves sunlight and well-fertilized soil. At any time of the year, begonia is always blossoming can be propagated by cuttings: they perfectly take root. For the reproduction of individual species of begonias, leaves and their parts are also used. To germinate a begonia sheet, it can be immediately placed in the ground and checked once a week for roots. The test will also help to notice in time if it starts to rot. The decayed tip of the sheet is neatly cut off. Before planting in the ground, the leaf can be preliminarily rooted in water for two weeks. Sometimes planted in the ground and parts of the leaves, slightly dropping. Once a week they need to be sprayed with a root stimulant. Germs usually appear within a month.

Another known plant species, cultivated in the open ground - begonia is tuberous. This begonia, the reproduction of which is carried out with the help of tubers, seeds or cuttings, for the winter is translated into a state of rest. Since its shoots die with the onset of autumn, they need to be cut off. Tubers should be stored at a temperature of + 8-12 degrees Celsius. In the spring on them appear sprouts. Before the shoots reach a height of 5-6 cm, the tuber is sometimes cut into several pieces in order to grow 4-5 plants from it. This method helps to rejuvenate the tubers and make flowering begonias more intense. All the slices are poured with powder of crushed coal, dried and again sent to germination.

Tuber-like begonia, the reproduction of which is not particularly difficult, is often grown from cuttings. For them, you can use tuber shoots, which by this time should grow no less than 10-12 cm. Sections of shoots, like tubers, are sprinkled with charcoal and dried. They take root in water or in a mixture of sand and peat. After rooting, the cuttings are seated. In the autumn, only shoots grown from tubers (not from seeds!) Are used to obtain cuttings. They are cut off in late August and early September, rooting in the ground throughout the winter months. In winter, cuttings can partially die and lose leaves, but this is in the order of things. In spring they are planted in separate pots.

Taking into account the peculiarities of this or that species, you will be able to propagate this plant on your own. And then a beautiful begonia flower, the reproduction of which - a fairly simple task, will always please you with its abundant flowering and beautiful leaves.
