Many people, after waiting for a vacation, go on a trip. Not far from St. Petersburg is located Lake Ladoga. It is truly unique here. Also, many people come to these regions to visit the island of Coyonsaari. Once you get on it, you just will not believe that it is close to civilization. a brief description of

The island of Coyonsaari on the map can be found at the following coordinates: 61 ° 17'00 "N and 30 ° 07'00" E. It is located near the Arctic Circle. It is in the group of Western Ladoga skerries. Administratively belongs to the Republic of Karelia, located in Lahdenpohja district. Near to it there are two settlements: Kurkieki and Vyatikkya. Until the 1940s the island was called Haseksensaari. Subsequently, it was renamed Coyonsaari. There is no official version of the origin of such a name, but, according to local residents, it originated from the Finnish family name - Kojo (Russian Coyo).

The island in the Ladoga Lake is small. In length from west to east it stretched only 2,4 km, and in width does not reach even 1,5 km. On the Coyonsaari there are rocks, but they are low - up to 51 m. Always considered the most popular tourist destination. Contributed to this sandy beaches, which are not typical of this area. Among the people they are called "The Pearl of Ladoga". The coastline has the shape of a crescent, deployed precisely to the lake.

Historical data

At the beginning of the 21st century, the island of Coyonsaari became rapidly gaining popularity. Several times there were attempts to rent the whole territory. Local residents said that in 2003 there were signs indicating a change in the name, but officially this was not confirmed. Two years later, the bridge was completed, which connected Coyonsaari with the mainland. This led to a significant increase in the flow of tourists. In 2013, defenders of nature discovered the beginning of illegal construction on the island. There were many appeals to the minister, to the prosecutor's office with a request to prohibit the destruction of the protected forests of Ladoga Lake. On the island's territory, only temporary structures are allowed to be installed. Recently esoteric festivals have been held on Coyonsaari.

At the end of summer, the nebula is added to the cloudiness.
