The sensor of idling VAZ 2110, 21214, 2107, 2112, 2109, 2115

Well-coordinated operation of the internal combustion engine is possible only if all the parts and mechanisms that make up it are in good order. For this purpose the car is supplied with various sensors and subsystems, among which the idle speed sensor deserves special attention. What is this detail and what importance is it for domestic models of VAZs? The answers to these questions will be found in the course of our today's article.

Purpose and construction

The idling sensor (VAZ "injector" 1.6) is a device that monitors the idle speed of the engine. With its help, the internal combustion engine can maintain optimal operating conditions, thereby increasing the service life of all its components.
In addition, idle speed can warm the engine to operating temperature in a cold period of time. Thus, the sensor of idling (VAZ 2110 including) plays far from the last role in the work of the engine ICE. By the way, it consists of only three components:

  1. Spring.
  2. Stepper motor.
  3. Stock with a cone needle at the end.

A more detailed design of this element is shown in the picture below:

As you can see, the structure of the DXH is very simple, so, with the repair and replacement of this device can be handled personally.

Where is the VAZ 2107 idle sensor located?

On vehicles of the VAZ family, the idle sensor is located on the throttle body, next to the throttle position mechanism . It is fixed by two cogs.

Principle of operation

The essence of the idle speed sensor is the opening and closing of the channel, which passes through the damper. When the engine is running, the crankshaft speed sensor tells the controller (the information is often transmitted using special marks) about the speed of the part. In turn, the controller makes a decision: close or open the valve. In doing so, he is guided by various calculations and algorithms. Then the idle sensor receives the command to be executed. Thus, by extending / pulling the rod with the needle, a reduction or an increase in the fuel supply to the engine occurs.

Symptoms of malfunctions

The following symptoms can indicate the malfunction of the idle sensor:

  • "Floating" engine speed at idle.
  • Bad start-up of internal combustion engine even when the accelerator pedal is depressed. Often this is the reason that the sensor needle covers the channel.
  • When the vehicle warms up, the engine speed does not increase.
  • Sudden stop of engine operation on neutral gear.
  • A noticeable drop in turnover after the inclusion of energy users such as a stove, air conditioning, headlights and radio tape recorder.

Listing the signs of a malfunction of the sensor of idling, it should be noted that similar "symptoms" can be provoked by other devices (for example, fuel filter or candles) that are associated with the fuel supply system. Therefore, before changing the sensor of idling, the VAZ 2110 must be diagnosed for serviceability of a number of other important details. Only after making sure of the failure of DXH, you can proceed to replace it. Otherwise, all the work will not bring the desired result.

Check for serviceability

How to check the VAZ 2110 idle speed sensor? First you need to find the mechanism itself and draw a wire harness from it. If your car is equipped with a 1.6-liter VAZ engine, unscrew the two fastening elements of the throttle assembly and remove it from the end of the receiver by 10 millimeters.

Next, we carry out the sensor circuit and see if the voltage is suitable for it. For this, a conventional voltmeter is used. To determine the voltage, first connect the negative terminal to the ground and connect the "A" and "D" wires to the terminal block (they are often indicated on the terminal block). Now turn on the ignition and look at the voltmeter: if the voltage on the scale is less than 12 volts, you probably have a low battery. If there are no signs of current supply, the whole circuit or the electronic control unit is faulty.

If the voltmeter showed a voltage of 12 volts or more, we continue the experiment. Turn off the ignition and begin to check the idle speed sensor VAZ 2110. The tester terminals are connected to the terminals A, B, C and D. At the same time, the total resistance should fluctuate around 50-55 Ohm. After that it is necessary to measure the resistance in pairs - its values should be infinitely large. If the idle sensor (VAZ 21214, for example) gives out other indications, then it is defective, and it must be replaced. If the values correspond to the norm, most likely, the problem lies in the candles or other elements of the car. In this case, you need to go to the service station for diagnostics.

How to check DXH for serviceability? Method No. 2

You can use an alternative method. To do this, remove the idle sensor completely and connect the shoe to it. Next, gently pressing your finger on the tip of the needle DXH, check how far it moved out. Ideally, a working sensor at the time the ignition is turned off fully extends this element. Thus, your finger should feel a slight push. If this does not happen, then the device is in a faulty condition and must be replaced. But DXH can and will be restored, however about it a bit later.

How to replace the sensor of idling (VAZ 2109-2115) with your own hands?

Before starting work, it is first necessary to de-energize the vehicle's on-board system. To do this, remove the negative terminal from the battery. Next, the connector with wires leading to the sensor from the throttle body is disconnected. You need to press your finger on the plastic latch-lock.

After the two fixing screws are removed, the sensor is removed from the nozzle. Sometimes there may be problems - the screw, which is located next to the receiver, can fall out when unscrewed. To avoid this, it is recommended to first remove the left attachment mechanism, then unscrew the right one. At the next step, pull the sensor slightly toward you and unscrew the right screw. Due to this sequence, you will not lose the fasteners and significantly speed up the process of dismantling.

So, the old sensor is successfully removed from the car. Now it is necessary to install a new one in its place. In general, the installation of DXH is made in the same way as the removal, only in the reverse order. However, before working, experts recommend applying a few drops of engine oil to the O-ring. Doing this is not necessary, but by doing so, you will greatly simplify the work of installing the sensor on your car.

Calibration of the mechanism

Now you can proceed to the final stage - calibration of the DXH. On all domestic cars, this procedure is fully automated, so all you need to do is put on a minus terminal, turn the ignition on for 5-10 seconds and turn it off again. Everything, on this calibration of the sensor has been successfully completed. The car is fully operational.

How to repair the idle sensor?

In some cases, in order to restore this part, it is enough to clean it thoroughly. The very same cleaning of the sensor - the process is very easy, and for repair it is enough to have only one tool WD-40.

So, how to restore the VAZ 2112 idle speed sensor? At the first stage, the two nuts of the throttle assembly are unscrewed. The latter, like in the case of replacement, is taken away by 10 millimeters to the side. Next, the terminal strip is disconnected from the sensor. Wadding stick WD-40 is applied, and with it all channels are thoroughly cleaned. Then, using a Phillips screwdriver, two bolts are loosened that fix the VAZ 2110 idle speed sensor. If there are no fasteners here, then you have to remove the entire throttle assembly. Then the mechanism is pulled out. If it is covered with oil and black mud, then, apart from cleaning DXH, it will be necessary to clean the entire throttle.

Next, the WD-40 is applied to a conical needle with a spring. Thus, after a few minutes the sensor mechanisms will be cleaned of dirt. Then the device is dried, and it can be safely put in place. Before installation, the distance from the needle to the body of the device is checked (one must be 23 millimeters). At this stage the VAZ 2115 idle speed sensor can be considered successfully repaired. The machine can again work in regular order.

So, we found out how the VAZ 2114 idle speed sensor (and other models) is arranged. And the way it can be replaced / restored.
