Chondrosis of the thoracic spine: causes, symptoms and treatment

Chondrosis of the thoracic spine is a fairly common disease, to which people of mature and elderly are most exposed. The disease is accompanied by a gradual degeneration of the intervertebral discs, which is accompanied by a loss of elasticity and concomitant damage.

Chondrozis of the thoracic region and its causes

In fact, there are many reasons that can lead to the destruction of the cartilaginous tissues of the spine. First of all it is necessary to note excessive physical exertion. Chondrosis can be the result of both severe trauma and minor, but permanent damage to the intervertebral discs.

On the other hand, a low-activity lifestyle and sedentary work can also provoke degeneration processes. The fact is that the lack of movements, as well as the constant static load on the spine, can disrupt the normal circulation of blood and, consequently, the trophism of the cartilaginous tissues, which leads to the development of so much unpleasant and dangerous disease.

Chondrosis of the thoracic spine and its symptoms

In fact, such a disease is accompanied by very nonspecific symptoms, so it is often difficult to diagnose. The early stages of dystrophy may even be asymptomatic.

Nevertheless, the lesions of the thoracic part of the spinal column, as well as the chondrosis of the cervicothoracic region, are accompanied by pains that increase with additional load, for example, when lifting weights. Pain can be given to the shoulder blade or arm. Often, attacks of soreness resemble the symptoms characteristic of heart and stomach diseases, as a result of which patients simply turn to the wrong doctor.

Sometimes spasms appear on inhaling or during exhalation. Often, soreness appears at night and is associated with an uncomfortable position of the body during sleep. Unlike heart pain, discomfort is not stopped by vasodilator drugs.

In any case, it should be understood that chondrosis of the thoracic spine is a very dangerous state. That is why at the first signs of the disease it is worthwhile to seek help from a specialist. After all, in the absence of therapy, complications, in particular, hernia of intervertebral discs, are possible.

Treatment of chest chondrosis

In this case, therapy is a long and complex process. And it should be taken into account that the sooner the treatment is started, the more chances for successful recovery.

To begin with, doctors prescribe a special medication - chondroprotectors, which help to restore the structure of cartilaginous tissues and stop the processes of degeneration. Quite effective today is considered to be the drug Artritosamin. In addition, local anti-inflammatory drugs and special anesthetic ointments are used, which help to alleviate pain attacks and significantly improve the patient's quality of life.

In addition, regular therapeutic massages that help improve blood circulation and trophic vertebral structures are important. The doctor must also choose the appropriate physical exercises. Regular therapeutic exercises help not only to activate blood circulation, but also strengthen muscles, creating the so-called "muscular corset", which reduces the burden on the spine.

Of course, nutrition is important, since all necessary nutrients and minerals must be present in the human diet. A person with a similar diagnosis also needs to more carefully choose a mattress and pillow and properly arrange the workplace. In some cases, a special corset is required.
