Cervical chondrosis: first signs and methods of treatment

Cervical chondrosis is now considered a very common disease and in terms of the number of patients is second only to lumbar osteochondrosis. The disease is associated with the gradual destruction of intervertebral discs. Typically, such a violation is much more common in older age, but it is not ruled out for younger people.

Cervical chondrosis develops slowly and is accompanied by a whole set of symptoms, which in some cases appear already at a more severe stage of the development of destruction. It should be noted that osteochondrosis is a rather dangerous disease, which can very easily pass into a vertebral hernia.

Chondroz cervical: the main symptoms

Osteochondrosis of the cervical spine can proceed in different ways. It is accepted to distinguish two forms of the disease course.

In the first case, signs appear after a sharp, unsuccessful turn of the head. A sharp severe pain covers not only the cervical spine, but also extends to the nape, chest and shoulders. Even the slightest movement of the neck, head, chest or hands causes a strong muscle tension, and, as a result, a sharp, sweeping pain. A person experiences stiffness in movements. This condition can last several days.

With the second form of development, the chondrosis of the cervical spine begins slowly, almost imperceptibly. First, the neck muscles become numb, dull constant pain appears, and a sensitivity disorder is observed. Muscles of the neck, chest and shoulders strongly strain and as the development of the disease begins to grow dull. And although the pain is not so sharp, nevertheless, it is constant and brings a person's life into discomfort, disturbs sleep, causes headaches.

In the absence of timely treatment, cervical chondrosis can cause jamming of the nerve roots and blood vessels that carry blood to the brain. The vertebral hernia often develops. That's why if you have any symptoms, you need to seek the help of a specialist.

Cervical chondrosis: treatment

Osteochondrosis is the destruction of intervertebral discs and, unfortunately, even with timely treatment, it is not possible to repair damaged tissue. Nevertheless, the process can be slowed down or even stopped, which will improve the body and protect against severe consequences.

It should be understood that the treatment of osteochondrosis should be long and systematic. In order to relieve pain and inflammation, prescribe non-steroid drugs - in most cases, ointments and creams. In some cases, antispasmodics as well as drugs that stimulate the regeneration of tissues are effective. But such medicines can be picked up only by the attending physician. Unfortunately, they do not stop the process of destruction - they just relieve the symptoms.

In the treatment of chondrosis use a variety of techniques. For example, electrophoresis, manual therapy, acupuncture with subcutaneous administration of medications are effective. Assign also vacuum therapy, magnetotherapy, physiotherapy procedures.

When osteochondrosis, regular massage sessions are also recommended, during which it is possible to relieve muscle tension to improve blood flow and tissue condition. But the procedure should be carried out by an experienced specialist.

It is very useful and special medical gymnastics, which must be done regularly. And the exercises can be used both as a prophylaxis of the disease, and as an auxiliary during treatment.

Cervical chondrosis is much more often diagnosed among those people who lead a sedentary lifestyle or spend most of their time sitting. In this case, you must at least once every two hours to take a short break for a walk or a short gymnastics - so you can relax your muscles and prevent the progress of the disease.
