Chemical weapons and their types

One of the weapons of mass destruction is chemical weapons. The principle of its action is toxic poisoning of the environment and people. It can be in the form of rockets, aircraft bombs, mines or other means of use. They contain a poisonous substance. The international community made several attempts to ban the use of this type of weapon. However, its production does not stop.

Chemical weapons are divided into several types. Depending on the type of poison agent and its effect on the human body, the following types are also distinguished:

1. A substance can affect the central nervous system of people. As a result, there is a rapid defeat of a large number of personnel. The lethal outcome under the impact of this type of chemical weapons is very high.

2. The following species affects the body through the skin and respiratory system. This chemical weapon is an aerosol or vapor.

3. The fastest is a weapon containing substances that affect the entire body. They penetrate into the blood with oxygen and quickly spread to the tissues and organs.

4. Substances that affect the lungs and cause a suffocating effect, are part of another type of chemical weapons.

5. The last type is a chemical weapon that contains substances that have a temporary effect on a person's mental state. It is not fatal, but it can cause passing deafness, blindness, a state of panic and fear, and some other mental disorders.

There are still substances that cause the effect of irritation. They have a short-term effect, realized as sneezing or lacrimation. These substances are adopted by the police of some countries.

Types of chemical weapons are distinguished for combat purposes:

1. Lethal weapons destroy the living force.

2. The second kind temporarily takes people out of action. The time depends on the type of attacking substance.

Sometimes the use of non-lethal weapons can lead to death. This occurs in the case of a significant excess of its concentration. Such cases were recorded during the Vietnam War.

Depending on the speed of impact, chemical weapons are divided into slow-acting and high-speed weapons. It also depends on the substance contained in it. The rapid effect is exerted by irritating, psychotropic and neuro-paralytic components. Slowing effects have suffocating and blistering substances.

Also distinguish elements with long exposure time and short-term. Unstable substances act for several minutes, and more persistent can cause long negative effects (up to several weeks).

Wars, in which chemical weapons were used, showed its inefficiency. Despite the deadly harm that can be caused by the use of certain substances, certain conditions are necessary for their application. For example, weather conditions.

Russia signed an agreement on the non-use of chemical weapons. In this regard, a program for the destruction of all its species has been developed.

To reduce the risk of damage, protection from chemical weapons should be used.

Here the main role is played by the timely detection of the problem and the search for methods for its elimination. Gas masks and special clothes are used as individual means. But with a massive defeat, there is a need to protect a large number of people. For this purpose, special rooms are provided, equipped with filters and ventilation, which prevents the spread of poisonous substances.

The use of chemical weapons must be reduced and completely banned. It should be fully controlled by international organizations.
