Caution! Dysplasia of the knee joint!

What is joint dysplasia? This is not a disease, but a condition of bone and cartilaginous tissues that develops in a person as a result of the appearance of various pathologies. Most often this condition is congenital, but there are cases when dysplasia developed after birth.

Dysplasia is a pathology of tissue development. If this pathology occurs after birth, then in some cases it is considered a precancerous condition.

Dysplasia of the joints is an incorrect structure or development of connective tissue. The underdeveloped tissue makes the joints excessively mobile.

Most often there is dysplasia of the knee joint or dysplasia of the hip joint. Some experts believe that the pathology of the hip joint in most cases is congenital, and the knee joint - acquired. However, not all experts agree with this opinion.

What is knee joint dysplasia? This is an extremely painful, very unpleasant condition that appears in people as a result of the fact that the patella ceases to correspond in shape to the grooves in which it should enter. This discrepancy causes severe pain, the bones wear out and take the wrong shape, making it difficult for the knee to move in the joint.

Dysplasia of the knee joint can affect different areas: the bone growth zone, ligamentous apparatus, articular capsule or intraarticular cartilage. Depending on which zone is affected, certain deformations develop. It is known that varus (arched) or valgus (change in length) deviation (pathology) can cause curvature of the legs in the shape of the letter "X" or "O".

Dysplasia of the knee joint. Causes of pathology

Today it is established that pathology can be caused:

  • Hereditary predisposition;
  • Postpartum or birth trauma, poor fetal presentation;
  • Hormonal failures in women;
  • Injuries;
  • Overweight.

Usually, any dysplasia causes severe pain. With the diagnosis of "knee joint dysplasia," changes in the joint can be seen during routine examination.

Despite the fact that patients with joint pains usually go to surgeons, orthopedic doctors deal with the treatment.

Treatment of dysplasia, like every disease or deviation, begins with a study. The doctor should appoint an ultrasound joint, his radiographic images.

Methods of treatment depend on the form and extent of the disease. Usually it is assigned:

  • Massages. The course should be conducted only in medical institutions and repeated many times;
  • physiotherapy. Certain exercises can strengthen the joints. Important: occupational sports with dysplasia are prohibited:
  • physiotherapy;
  • Treatment with medicinal products;
  • surgical intervention. Carried out in extreme cases. Sometimes doctors can completely replace the joint, setting instead of the damaged artificial.

As mentioned, dysplasia can be congenital or acquired. Regardless of this, the absence of treatment leads to the same complications. The most unpleasant and dangerous of them:

  • Severe pain in the deformed joint;
  • Violation of gait;
  • Pathological changes in the spine.

Prevention of dysplasia

It is recommended to begin prevention at the stage of pregnancy. The woman is obliged to undergo the prescribed medical examination, to get rid of all diseases in a timely manner.

Swaddled newborn, it should be remembered that dense wrapping leads to muscle atrophy and, as a result, increased risk of dysplasia.

Adult people should monitor their weight, carefully monitor the hormonal background (especially women). It is very important to go in for sports and be systematically examined by medical specialists.
